Maman Brigitte is a loa, a white woman with fiery red hair, a taste for rum and spices, and a nasty mouth. Wife of Baron Samedi, she is none other than Celtic Brigid, reborn through the marriage of Catholic sainthood and Yoruba religion. #FolkyFriday 🖼: G. Zielinska

G. Zielinska's brilliantly demure depiction of Maman Brigitte, a white woman in gothic Caribbean dress with bright red hair, green eyes, drinking rum, holding a patch of red peppers, cock feathers on her top hat, and with a rooster at her feet, sitting in the jungle looking knowingly at the viewer.

To those who still call fox hunting a ‘tradition’: it’s nothing but barbaric cruelty. Real tradition is respecting nature, not destroying it. Time to enforce the ban and end the excuses!

They tried to shrink me, but I chose to grow. They tried to silence me, but I found my voice. I'm exactly who I'm meant to be. Here's to the women who refuse to fit in boxes & the magic we create when we embrace ourselves. ✨ This is your reminder that it's okay to be too loud, too bold, too much!

Every year, foxes suffer unimaginable cruelty during hunts. This is not justifiable in any way. We demand stronger laws and better enforcement to end this disgrace once and for all.
