today i learned: g then ? in vim lets you ROT13 text. why? turns out this was a common method to hide spoilers on usenet in the 90s! instead of ||hi|| you just rot13 your text. anyone who wants to read it rot13s again. wowzers! and this is still in vim, and vim mode in zed kept it for some reason

also, tentative thoughts on generative AI: using it to slop out creative output - writing, AI art, AI music, etc - is bad. yes, the world would be a better place without it. the world might have been a better place without social media too coding agents are incredibly powerful in the right hands

tried out opus 4.7, it feels a bit smarter than 4.6 but the personality is way more verbose, sycophantic, and gpt-like. plus feels harder for it to "get" what i mean. imo a regression for anything other than like business analysis in the background. def not for conversational use
