Artefacts from Northeye deserted medieval settlement. The settlement was first recorded c.1118 and was probably deserted in the 15th century. On display in our Sargent Gallery. #Bexhill
Top left are some animal bones. Beneath them remnants of two glazed finial tiles. Top right is a large slate from a roof, in three parts. At the bottom is the information label about the items. “… Northeye was a limb of the Cinque Ports. William de Hastings, Lord of Northeye in 1248, endowed the chapel of St James, Northeye…”

Its not every day you see a spitfire on a trailer ....... This one maybe based on the Supermarine Spitfire Mk IIa (Serial P7290) wearing the squadron code "AF-V". The aircraft served with the Royal Air Force's Air Fighting Development Unit (AFDU) based at Duxford.

We're at Ashburnham Place, their wonderful Orangery was built as part of Lancelot Capability Brown's plan in 1777. It was built as a 7 bayed greenhouse. The central door was moved in the 1830's, by 1883 the Camellias arrived! These are thought to be some of the oldest surviving in the country.

Although not here in Sussex, this mindless damage and abuse of our history is something we all need to look out for. With around 95% of Sussex shared heritage being undesignated, protected, listed or scheduled our heritage is at great risk. #HeritageCrime www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This plan is of our museum - before it was a museum! Built in 1903 as a small pavilion for visitors to Egerton Park, in 1914 it became #Bexhill Museum. Then in 2009 we completed a major extension and refurbishment programme, adding three additional galleries.
The architectural plans are black on a white paper background. At the bottom they say “plan of foundations.” At the top it says “Bexhill Urban District Council. Shelter hall and lavatories, Egerton Park Road…”
