I once called in IT because my password wasn't working and then realized the reason it wasn't working is that my keyboard had switched to an Irish layout and the @ symbol was in a different place.

Yeah, that famously works out for people in the long run ;-)

You missed, oddly enough, buffalo chicken mac and cheese this week as a Tuesday dinner. And also, I've never seen as many lizards around as I have at the complex this summer either ;-)

The weirdest thing, to me at least, about all the AI cultism is that on one hand they're saying we shouldn't build the torment nexus because it will deliver, you know, torment. And yet they continue to build the torment nexus from their perspective.

Goal setting at work is sure a useful thing! At least it's good for getting chores done at home as scrubbing toilets is more interesting and useful.

Inexplicable moodiness today. I very much want to go home, buy some food on the way home and finish my book instead of whatever this whole work thing is.

This is an amazing deal for some awesome books (I'd buy it myself but I, er, have pretty much everything in it)

(note that this is not my being all virtuous about my eating habits, just me not being a huge snacker, honestly)

I don't eat many processed foods other than the rare bag of potato chips & most of them taste bad these days so it surprised me to find out I could probably still mow through a whole bag of puffed cheese balls in one sitting if I allowed myself to buy one (work had small bags of them at an event)

Um. A passport is also one of the best things to steal for identity theft, having it obviously marked on the envelope is just begging for it.

I made an adult decision to not start the new October Daye book last night because I would have stayed up all night to read it....that should mean I get to stay home to do that, right? Stupid work.

The easiest way to understand Scott Summers is to realize that he spent his formative years in an orphanage in which half the people he interacted with were just disguised Mr. Sinister. The easiest way to understand Mr. Sinister is to realize he took over a whole orphanage just to mess with Scott.

It is moderately gratifying to bring a pie into work and have people sitting there picking the bits of crust off to eat instead of just eating the filling.

I just misheard a lyric as "And that's why we always invite Circe" and if I was a woman I'd want the chick who can turn men into pigs too (I sometimes do as a guy!)

I suppose putting the gay in mostly relies on straight women to lead the charge *sigh*

I mean, no, but given I found out about HR because it was being billed online as "that hot gay hockey show" it was sort of right there on the tin :-)

Apple pie resting a bit before putting into oven for potluck at work tomorrow. Pics when done baking (not my prettiest crust this time because it's deepdish and I should have rolled the bottom crust a tiny bit bigger)

I have never played a God of War game because they seem like the sort of action adventure game I'd both be bad at and not enjoy that much but I do have to wonder-are they not running out of gods to murder yet?

It does feel like an older story as it's sort of built upon an epistolary model, I just hadn't been aware there was another movie or a play.

That's kind of what I was expecting, especially since they said it would take 15 minutes or so. The management company was just bought by another management company or I would have been a little less concerned.

Annnnnd....all they really wanted to know is there was carpet in the bedrooms. Which they could have done with a quick survey instead of making us feel like they were going to be looking for damage.

Almost daily bit of religious commentary (this isn't scripture directly) in the cousin chat "God is in the mist of it all." What mist? Does god manifest directly in fog thus making the SF Bay one of the holiest places in the world? And waterfalls that mist constantly basically holy springs?
