Today for Memorial Day, I remember my great uncle, Webster Bull, whose plane was shot down over the Netherlands in World War II, where he is now buried, and all those soldiers who have given their lives serving our country. May their bravery and sacrifice inspire us to better.

Spoke with *another* constituent this morning who's considering moving to Palmdale just for the chance to own a home. Now, no shade to the Antelope Valley, but if anyone is seriously considering *Palmdale* over LA's westside, that is a generational failure of leadership here.

Spoke with another CD5 resident yesterday that’s considering moving out of California because, despite he and his wife making good money, there are no opportunities for homeownership. Whole generations have been robbed of the chance at economic security in LA, it’s devastating.

I live in Park La Brea and management has always been bad but it’s gotten even worse recently. This is why I want to give LAHD more power to enforce tenant protections and hold bad landlords accountable. But calling PLB “luxury” apartments is silly, they were built in the 1940s!

The hard truth about housing and homelessness is that they aren't problems we can just tax and spend our way out of. So long as we have a shortage of housing, there will be homelessness, and so long as it's illegal to build more housing in most of the city, there will be a shortage.

I've spoken with a lot of homeowners with adult children and I often hear: "my kids can't afford to live here anymore!" This is what I'm running to fix. If you're a homeowner and you want your kids and grandkids to live near you, we need to build more homes for them near you.

It is absurd that the objections of a few homeowners are enough to create massive delays and cost increases for infrastructure projects. We need public transit and the studies show the K Line won't be a problem, the Metro Board should just approve the DEIR Alignment!
