I likened our system's breadcrumb trail on item pages to a "curry mile" of forms 🧐 We wanted to check forms weren't generally broken and followed this breadcrumb trail to conveniently find a series of fairly complex forms – item, contract, seller, auction house.

@raycast.com An annoying thing in the iOS app AI chat: If I "stop" to make a correction, the bot then doesn't seen the stopped/cancelled message. With Claude it does, and that makes more sense to me.

This is why I think it's so important to push back against the personification of LLMs. If a person shoots someone while wearing a hand puppet, they can't claim the hand puppet did the murder.

I borrowed the company #AppleVisionPro again. I missed it! I ordered Zeiss lenses to do it properly, and it took submitting the prescription THREE TIMES with escalating annotations and a letter-as-image before they stopped rejecting my prescription (from today) as "expired" 🫠

@raycast.com I'd love a setting to Window Management where repeating a command cycles displays only. E.g. "Left Half" once is on this display; twice is on other display. Same for "Maximize" and so on. This is why I've clung on to Divvy.

Found myself using a hollow glass hammer as a metaphor for LLM tool use and prompt-enforced limits vs tool-enforced limits. The metaphor is funky and leaky but I like it all the same.

One more thing I miss from tmux in Herdr is prefix+prefix to jump to the last pane. It was very quick to type and I do it all the time. prefix+tab is slightly less convenient in a way that I think is not just muscle memory.

Henrik Nyh @henrik.nyh.se · 02/09/2026
I've used Herdr instead of tmux for the past few days and I still really like it! The things I don't like are all about quickly jumping to stuff by kb: - No command to show pane numbers (tmux: prefix+q) and jump - Named tabs can't show a number, and you can't pin numbers (e.g. dev console at 8)

@zen-browser.app is still holding up as an #Arc alternative, a week in. I used container tabs today to have a split view with different sessions. Handy! The icon is strangely unmemorable so I just now adapted this one: github.com/henrik/zen_browser...
Netscape-style retro Zen browser icon. A white “Z” against a night sky with comets. “Zen” below it against a dark hillside.

@liss.bsky.social Would be nice if Callsheet had a way of finding a movie you recently looked up via the Plex integration. Perhaps including it in the search history?

Trying @zen-browser.app again. Really impressed this time around! So far, feels like the good parts of #Arc plus improvements, like remembering HTTP auth, and being able to get a full-width URL bar at top. Hope it (and Chromium -> Gecko) holds up! Arc's crumbling and always had some rough edges.

Trying the #Vivaldi browser again as an #Arc user after hearing good things about the extreme customisability and it's possible to get a full address bar at top (nice!)… but then you can't remove the sidebar (tab bar) one? 🫠

My council emailed to confirm voter registration. The linked page requires two security codes. The email mentions both security codes right after each other. I'm so curious why they have two! Surely there's no added security (but some added faff).

Proposing the term "Omega Vibe", after the Sandi Metz "Omega Mess". Applies to a piece of code where a high level of vibe coding is acceptable, as it's mostly isolated from other code and outer correctness can be verified to a satisfactory level.

@liss.bsky.social The Plex integration in Callsheet is glorious! Looked up some vaguely familiar guest actors in two Murder She Wrote episodes. The right episodes were just right there. Well done ✨

Coding agents are so nice for the boring non-coding parts. (Also for the boring coding parts.) Examples: - Fixing merge conflicts. - Finding or setting up complex data locally. (Just got a table of links to items in a hammer sale showing each of several new states.) What else?

Most of my code review these days (direct to Claude while iterating, or by meat proxy in our commit review tool) seems to be about comments. Somehow Claude is amazing at code and quite bad at determining what's relevant for a comment.

@anilineapps.bsky.social Bug, iOS: Pasting content into a Bluesky-only post leaves the send button disabled. Making a change enables it. Did not happen for Mastodon only or Bluesky + Mastodon but didn't test thoroughly. Could reproduce the issue several times.

Finally started working on Git worktree support in our monolith and dev tooling, so agents step less on each other's toes. Looked for an emoji for the Notion page and I'm loving the Tanabata tree: 🎋 Most or all emoji designs are branchy AND it has tags to evoke Git 👌

New AI pet peeve: ambient Claude in Slack ("Claude Tag") reacting with emojis. You see a 👍, feel a flush of the warmth of human interaction, then see it was a human interaction simulator 😔 It's fine when the emojis act as a succinct response, like a 🤐 when told to hush…

I made an iOS app! It puts a '90s modem in front of distracting apps, so you dial up to access them for a while. 50% of my motivation was wanting a minimalist blocked-by-default screen time app and 50% was dial-up nostalgia.

A vibe learning is to get specific about visual changes where possible - not "make the margin a bit tighter" but "tighten the margin by 50%", if that's the idea in my head.

iOS vibe coding continues. Now in the cool/sad phase where I can use the Claude app on my phone in bed to have it make a tweak *and* trigger a build-to-phone, so I get an updated app to try.

I hate when sharing links from an app includes boilerplate like "Hej! Check out this DESIGNBLUNDER from IKEA." Does anyone like this? Surely you want to add your own context if any is needed? Thankfully I've been able to ensure my employer's app shares the link only.

@anilineapps.bsky.social Would be nice if long posts could be split into multiple using "+" on Bluesky while remaining a single post on Mastodon, but perhaps the UI for that would be too complex. Have not thought much about what it might look like.

Someone offered to take over of a code package I'd abandoned. Realised it can be hard to judge someone's bona fides, lest it gets hijacked. Especially now that it's cheap to generate convincing content. What is convincing enough? A serious-looking website? Old-looking GH commits? Repos with stars?

It's a bit of a hassle to scp screenshots and such to my remote dev machine for Claude, so I automated it. Now I can type "/dl" in a remote Claude Code session and it gets the latest file from my host Mac's ~/Downloads directory.
User:
/get-last-download What's this?

Claude Code:

● Bash(dir=$(mktemp -d /tmp/dl.XXXXXX) && curl --silent --show-error
      --remote-header-name --remote-name --output-dir "$dir"
      http://localhost:19998/last-download && ls…)
  ⎿  Roberts-Claude-Shannon.webp

Read 2 files (ctrl+o to expand)

● Your latest download is Roberts-Claude-Shannon.webp at
  /tmp/dl.eKcP2e/Roberts-Claude-Shannon.webp.

The filename gives it away — this is Claude Shannon, the father of information theory.
The black-and-white photo shows him in front of what looks like early computing/switching equipment, holding some papers. His 1948 paper "A Mathematical Theory of Communication" basically founded the field of digital communications. A legend!

I’ve realised that agentic coding makes premature abstraction an even worse idea, because the cost of turning the abstraction up later is so low now. Pick the abstraction that clearly describes current needs; if they change, fuzzily renaming everything is now embarrassingly cheap.

LLMs have turned programming from a hard magic system to a soft magic system. I remember thinking as a fantasy-devouring, programming-minded kid that it was unrealistic how handwavy and imprecise magic could be. Guess not!

It's fun trying to strike the balance between maintainability/upgradeability and customisability with Shopify. I wanted originals and prints to have nicer-looking titles on product pages without messing with the title display in thumbs, cart, search. Made the template split on en-dashes if present 💡

The last few days I’ve missed it for: - Coding out in the nice weather (no screen glare) - Coding in bed without a bright screen disturbing my partner (headphones for your eyes) - The Weeknd's “Open Hearts” (best immersive vid by far)

It's very neat that #Shopify lets you set a focal point for images (help.shopify.com/en/manual/on...). Their own Craft theme didn’t use it for product cards (thumbnails). I fixed it: thepugautomatic.com/2025/07/use-...
