HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 13/10/2026Excited to be co-hosting Sang Young Park in Pittsburgh next week! Thanks so much to @math48.bsky.social for all of his hard work for making this happen. I’m extra stoked as a Korean who grew up in Iowa City to have a Korean writer who is currently at the International Writing Program at Iowa! 021
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Can’t believe how tone deaf the ads are these days, everyone seems to be pitching sales for chilly fall weather and it’s still in the mid-70s 🙄 010
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Awww thank you! Miss you and our chats, too. Hope all is well and that you’re enjoying your time there! 010
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Best to go in person and ask! Then you can get them to help you look it up and order it right then and there if they don’t have it in stock. 110

HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Honestly I would check out Kyobo first! Sometimes they do have classics behind all of the trendy titles. And you can always place an order with them if not in stock and get it delivered at home! 110

HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 01/10/2026My calendar for October, wishing my own bookshelves looked like this! 020
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 30/09/2026For context: I work in a skyscraper built 100 years ago. As a friend said to me once: Literally in an ivory tower, above everyone else 😂 020
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Congratulations! Hope we’ll get a chance to catch up (going, but not presenting). 010
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 21/09/2026A 200-page footnote! Not sure whether I love it or hate it, but conceptually it totally makes sense to me 😅 020

Invite them to your class to do so. It’s great! You absolutely do not have to use AI or tell students to use AI to understand their books. You can get the actual real life person to help with that! HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 31/08/2026Though I wonder what Harvard’s embrace of AI says about elitism in academia (and/or about Harvard, for that matter, as the standard-bearer of that elitism). 010
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Learned about Octavia Butler’s KINDRED from a student (plus all of the Dolly news) yesterday, and that might be an American timeslip novel! Added to my to-read list— 000
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 26/08/2026TFW you get assigned to a classroom with a blue and white china display 😆 Chuckling at/with the universe, given my obsession with china. Hoping that this is a favorable sign for this semester! 010
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 25/08/2026First day of teaching in the books! Grateful to students who took my requests for physical paper books and no AI rule seriously. I loved getting asked about how long they should plan to work on their readings and writing assignments, and how to take good notes on readings. 020

HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 16/08/2026Stress-buying secondhand china is a real thing for me, and if my haul from the last two months is any indication, this summer was a bit stressful! 120
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Couldn’t agree more as someone who took a gap year between undergrad and law school and then six years between law school and PhD, all of it rather unplanned for me. 140

HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Are sub-skeets a thing? If so, let this be my first—annoyed that ppl are still getting the two Koreas mixed up. ROK/Republic of Korea = South Korea, home of K-pop and K-drama. NOT the Korea with the elder female news anchor in hanbok, that’s the OTHER Korea. 000
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Yes! I didn’t watch that one, but I did watch MY ROYAL NEMESIS! 010
HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Not familiar with the show but perhaps, though the “slips” in time in the show I watched—and a few of the more recent popular K-dramas—are between present day South Korea and Korea from about 500-300 years ago, during the Chosôn dynasty. 040

HeeJin Lee @heejinlee.bsky.social · 21/05/2026Boo and sorry to hear. Honestly I feel like the marginalized position has shielded me from much of this.
