Wednesday 8:52 am: Dry air has moved south into our area, bringing partly to mostly sunny skies today with low 90’s this afternoon. Deep moisture with Tropical Storm Isaias will track well east of our part of south Texas.

Tuesday 4:25 pm: A disturbance in the western gulf will likely intensify into a hurricane given absence of shearing winds that could disrupt it’s circulation and very warm gulf waters below. Upper level disturbance over Texas moving east, taking storm northward Friday.

@climatologist49.bsky.social I ran into your post on #days falling within 10F bins for CONUS and Alaska. Nice! I had done this with Laredo after the 1991-2020 averages came out. Also did data on average monthly hottest and coolest TMax/TMin’s and dates of 1st/last to meet thresholds…

Saturday 11:55 pm: Still a chance of showers overnight/Sunday morning as the atmosphere should be nearly saturated from ~3,000’ to 12,000’ altitude if HRRR model and rising air in that layer is close to reality. Radar at 11:54 pm.

Thursday 12:10 am: September 2026: hottest September in Laredo. Highs averaged 102.0F, topping 1912’s 101.8F Lows averaged 78.3F, topping 2023’s 76.9F. Every day reached at least 97F, topping 2011’s 94F or higher. Every low of the day was at least 75F, topping 2019’s 73F.

Thursday 9:35 am: The rains, mostly between 4 and 5 am, brought a quick ~1” rainfall to Laredo. The generous amount of moisture in the atmosphere made these high rainfall amounts in a hour or two possible.

Thursday 9:31 am: A very moist airmass. Most models depict some version of a heavy rain event with differences in timing/placement of the downpours. With rising air over a deep layer of a saturated atmosphere, widespread 2”-4”, some spots with more, mostly tonight/Friday am. Will monitor.

Tuesday 4:43 pm: 101F so far today, 24th day 100F or above this month, similar Wednesday. Gulf moisture and Pacific moisture with Tropical Storms Polo and Rachel will combine to bring a significant rain to our area Thursday/Friday, perhaps heaviest Thursday night.
