Wednesday 9:46 pm: A weakening patch of light rain may reach the river north of Laredo late this evening. Chance of showers/thundershowers early/mid morning. Best chance of episodes of heavy rains is Thursday night/Friday, will watch.

Wednesday 2:59 pm: Big Picture Weathermap: Enough sun through high clouds to reach at least mid 90’s today. A very deep layer of very moist air will be available for episodes of widespread potentially significant rainfall during the tonight through at least Friday, will monitor.

Wednesday 12:17 pm: Weakening patches of light rain will exit the Laredo area by ~1 pm. Some sun through mid/high level clouds will follow this afternoon with 95-100F heat, depending on how much sun we get mid/late afternoon.

Wednesday 8:58 am: A patch of showers is moving east from Mexico. The atmosphere above is now unusually moist. Showers today will be patchy, significant episodes of rain more widespread overnight, Thursday/Friday. We are still under a hot airmass, 90’s pm to near 100F today.

Tuesday 4:43 pm: 101F so far today, 24th day 100F or above this month, similar Wednesday. Gulf moisture and Pacific moisture with Tropical Storms Polo and Rachel will combine to bring a significant rain to our area Thursday/Friday, perhaps heaviest Thursday night.

Tuesday 9:09 am: Upper 90’s to low 100’s depending on how much sunshine we get through cirrus clouds high above. Deep layer of moist air moving north ahead of weather system over desert southwest and remains of Polo in Mexico brings widespread significant rain Thursday/Friday .

Monday 3:55 pm: Big Picture Weathermap: Our 100F afternoon heat will continue through Wednesday. 100F so far today, 23rd such day this month, every day 97F+. Cooler weather begins Thursday afternoon as moist air arrives aloft, bringing meaningful widespread rains Thursday to at least Saturday.

Sunday 9:30 pm: Moist air will deepen with a flow generally from the south Wednesday night through Saturday. This will flow above approaching frontal systems, eventually cool north wind by Friday evening. Widespread meaningful rain in that period, cooler weather with the rains.

Friday 6:07 pm: Looks like the last of the scattered showers (~6-10 miles east of Laredo) will track across north Laredo in the next half hour if they survive the trip. Football should be ok.

Friday 9:27 am: Plenty of cumulus in our marginally moist atmosphere. Isolated showers are still possible, most places stay dry. Isolated think most isolated showers that do occur would be done in time for football, will monitor. Upper 90’s today.

Thursday 3:35 pm: Cumulus are growing, some are tall enough to produce short lived scattered showers, they are quick to bubble up and then fizzle out. A few spots will be lucky and get wet.

@coweatherman.bsky.social On September 13, ~6:20 pm, lightning was depicted far from the core of a thunderstorm. Those strokes were not depicted by the GLM or by spherics. Were these strokes real and depicted accurately?

Tuesday 8:51 am: A cool airmass is passing by to our north. The air above is marginally dry, but somewhat buoyant to rise to form some tall cumulus clouds via daytime heating and later, approaching sea breeze. I will watch the radar, just in case isolated showers form. High 90’s.

Monday 4:47 pm: Small cumulus in our Laredo skies. Small showers further north in Webb County. Watching to see if sea breeze could pop up showers as far west as Laredo when it arrives between 7 and ~8 pm. Slight chance.
