Congressman Rob Wittman speaking at a yacht club that serves him lobster and shrimp cocktail while SNAP cuts leave #VA-01 children going hungry is giving off peak “Let them eat cake” vibes. www.wittmanwatch.com/p/wittman-tr...
Captioned picture of Congressman Rob Wittman speaking about the issue of affordability at a yacht club (picture and information per his Facebook page). He’s standing at a podium across from the picture-taker, hand raised while he speaks. On the left-hand side, two arrows point to a cardboard cutout of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan and a framed picture of Reagan, respectively. The cutout is to Wittman’s right and the picture leans against the wall on the floor behind Wittman. The caption on the left reads, “WTF kind of devil worship is this??!” The caption on the right reads, “Wittman feasts on lobster and shrimp while CD1 children starve because of SNAP cuts.” Two arrows point from the caption to a table of food (in the center bottom of the pic) featuring shrimp cocktail and a lobster appetizer.

Congressman Rob Wittman speaking at a yacht club to millionaires like Glen Youngkin reveals where his priorities truly lie. #VA-01 www.wittmanwatch.com/p/wittman-se...
Captioned picture of Congressman Rob Wittman speaking about the issue of affordability at a yacht club (picture and information per his Facebook page). He’s standing at a podium, index finger of his right hand pointed upwards while he speaks. The caption at the top left reads, “Meanwhile, at the yacht club…” A speech bubble pretends that Wittman is saying, “Re-elect me and I’ll transfer even *more* wealth to you rich, white people! Bwahahaha!” A thought bubble above the head of a mature white man in the background features a bag of money, gold coins, and stacks of bills. A little cartoon devil is perched against the column of the podium, with a speech bubble that reads, “Cha-ching!”

Congressman Rob Wittman will speak to an elite group of people at a yacht club about affordability but won’t do in-person town halls for his constituents to listen to their concerns about the high costs of groceries, gas, and utilities. #VA-01 🧵 www.wittmanwatch.com/p/without-to...

I can’t possibly be the only person in all of cinematic and television history who noticed this similarity between Renfield and Tom…

Re-watched Dracula (1931) after having only seen it once 25 years ago (so it was like watching it for the first time) and goodness gracious, Martin, you had ONE job and it wasn’t reading the newspaper! Renfield was all over the place thanks to you omg.
Screenshot of the character Martin from Dracula (1931). He’s an attendant at the psychiatric hospital and is supposed to be watching Renfield, a patient, but instead is, as seen in this screenshot, reading the newspaper and gossiping with his coworkers.

Me: sees pictures from Congressman Rob Wittman’s campaign event at Boots and BBQ at Lawson Bay Farm, where he appeared with former Virginia governor Glen Youngkin. #VA-01 #CD-01 Also me:
Captioned screenshot from Congressman Rob Wittman’s campaign event at Boots and BBQ at Lawson Bay Farm. This picture features Wittman, Virginia ex-governor Glenn Youngkin, and a mature man wearing a red baseball cap in conversation. Wittman and Youngkin are smiling wide while looking at the other man. This picture was captioned with Wittman having devil horns and eyes. The thought bubble above him reads, “Southern strategy for the win!” The thought bubble above Youngkin reads, “Sucker!” to convey how Republican voters fell for GOP southern strategy propaganda. A cartoon devil sits on the white chair in the background, looking like he’s cheering on Wittman and Youngkin.Captioned screenshot from Congressman Rob Wittman’s campaign event at Boots and BBQ at Lawson Bay Farm. A second caption reads, “(That’s just weird.)” Because it’s weird that they showed up to this campaign event wearing similar vests.

Wow, the “Wanted” ads for teachers were so cordial back in 1776! From the Virginia Gazette (July 26):

I can’t stand Rob Wittman’s ridiculous Wall of Fish. All he seems to do is go fishing and mount fish on his office walls. He takes better care of his fish display than he does the Chesapeake Bay. #VA-01

In addition to the mounted fish, there are pictures of him on boats while holding up huge, dead fish. It’s a macabre display of captured sea life.

Got my stamps and midterm election postcards courtesy of @henricodems.bsky.social! Can’t wait to send these to my fellow #VA-01 voters so we can get Rob Wittman OUT of Congress and elect Shannon Taylor as our next representative!
Picture of a stack of postcards from the Henrico County Democratic Committee. The image is of President Trump and his congressional minion in VA-01, Representative Rob Wittman. The main message reads: “The Wittman-Trump economy: selling out working families.” The right colum subheadings are: “Working people struggle,” “A war that gets us nothing,” and “Tariffs directly tax Virginians.” A paragraph outlines the issues in more detail.

I’m reading the part in Jane Mayer’s Dark Money where during the 1940s the wealthy plotted to keep their money out of the tax collector’s reach and thinking we need to reinvent the tax collector as a badass hero who makes billionaires pay their fair share of taxes.
Graphic I made that reinvents the black and white movie poster of the 1973 movie The Exorcist as a poster about a fictional movie called The Tax Collector. Beneath the pretend purple title is a pretend tag line that reads, “Billionaires who don’t pay their fair share of taxes are about to get their assets repossessed.” Everything else is the same, which is a priest standing in the dark outside of a house. He’s about to enter to help a possessed girl. A bright light shines from an upstairs window, putting the priest’s figure in silhouette. In this graphic, the priest represents the pretend movie’s heroic tax collector.

E.g., the #VA-01 primary has candidates of color, a queer candidate of color, female candidates, candidates who grew up needing social safety nets like Medicaid & WIC, a caregiver candidate, & veteran candidates. Plus, a candidate who loves cake maybe more than the others.
Black and white photo of 2026 VA-01 Democratic candidate Salaam Bhatti and other guests at the Neighbors For Change birthday event. Salaam is standing on the left side of the image while smiling down at the piece of cake on a plate he’s holding. His smile is wide, like he’s excited to dig in. Yellow sparkles surround the cake. A speech bubble next to his head reads, “My precioussss….” in a riff of the One Ring from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings book series. Two mature women stand on the other side of him, shaking hands. I watched The Thing from Another World (1951) and was struck by how much this film is a time capsule of the Fourth Estate in its former glory. The Air Force treats intrepid reporter Ned “Scotty” Scott as one of the team and helps him get the truth about the UFO to the people. Big nostalgia vibe!

I’m an unpaid caregiver in a single-income family, so my books are my only source of income. I appreciate reposts that help my memoir get the attention of readers who enjoy #Adoptee and #Adoption #NonFiction. Thanks so much! #BookSky #Adopteevoices

I’m obsessed with #GuyGardner #GreenLantern from the 2025 #Superman movie, so I made a fan graphic inspired by his favorite breakfast food. Enjoy! #FruityPebbles #NathanFillion
Fan art graphic I made featuring the Guy Gardner Green Lantern (played by Nathan Fillion) from the 2025 Superman movie. I replaced Fred Flintstone with Guy on a box of Fruity Pebbles cereal. A text bubble makes it seem like Guy is saying “Kids, Fred Flintstone couldn’t make it—so you got an upgrade!” It’s a riff on the scene in the movie when Green Lantern and the Justice Gang fight off an invasion as a favor to Superman and also draws on the fact that Guy eats Fruity Pebbles in another scene. I imagine Guy would think he’s an upgrade to Fred Flintstone as well as Superman.

@salaambhattiva.bsky.social: “My dream is I wanna have a food truck.” www.youtube.com/shorts/Tefio...
Fun graphic I made featuring Salaam Bhatti, a Congressional Democratic candidate in Virginia. Based on a video in which he said he dreamed of owning a food truck one day, I made a graphic using his candidate photo to make it appear like he’s in a food truck, ready to cook for customers. The food truck image is set against a bucolic city street on a sunny day with a few white, fluffy clouds in the sky. The truck has a black and blue color scheme. A pretend logo reads “Salaam’s Food Truck” in orange and white in the middle part of the truck. Blue text on the top of the passenger side door reads, “Open.” There’s a graphic of a cute, smiling smoothie drink on the left side of the food truck window and a picture of a falafel wrap on the other side. Below Salaam’s image is the phrase “SALAAM HAS THE SAUCE” in all caps. Light blue text bubbles at the top of the image read, from left to right and then down, separated by orange arrows (similar to the water cycle graphic): Salaam is elected to Congress; We get Medicare For All & other awesome stuff; Salaam gets his food truck; we get delicious food. At the bottom of the image is a blue button with white text that reads “salaamforva.com.”

Salaam Bhatti waiting to get into Congress so he can tax the billionaires
black and white screenshot from the film Goldiggers of 1933 featuring the upper half of a man in a smartly-dressed suit and hat. He’s the director of the play and is watching the rehearsal from a theater seat area. He’s got one foot propped up and is leaning slightly onto it with his left arm. A cigar sticks out from his mouth, and he’s got a serious look on his face.

There are tons of good bits in this article, but my favorite is this one, when Tim Cywinski talks about what the left could emphasize more: “moral clarity is our sword, the facts and figures are our shield.” Like He-Man, y’know? “We have the power!” So long as we have the political will to use it.
Promotional poster for the 2026 live action movie Masters of the Universe. Features the main character, He-Man, with his upper body to the viewer. He faces his nemesis, Skeletor, who is a shadowy figure in the distance. He-Man grips his massive sword in his right hand, ready for battle.

Started watching Paranormal Adoption and I have so many questions for Carl Watts. Especially about the wig & wardrobe choices of this elementary school principal. Is this twenty-something guy supposed to be in his 50s or whatever?!! 🤣
Screenshot of the elementary school principal in the 2012 horror doll movie Paranormal Adoption. The principal is a white man in his mid to late 20s. He’s sitting behind his office desk while addressing a parent character. He’s wearing a bright orange shirt and orange tie, both of which have a sheen to them. Of particular note is his short, wavy silverish hair, which I swear is a wig. Seems to be a case of trying to make a young actor appear much older, with unintentionally hilarious results.

Oh my word, there’s a movie called Paranormal Adoption?!? Came out in 2012 and it’s free on YouTube. As an #adoptee who loves doll horror movies, I’m intrigued. I bet it has all kinds of chaotic problems. Gonna check it out asap.
Promotional poster for the indie movie Paranormal Adoption. Features the main doll character, Miss Rachel, looking out from a corner of a window of a house with a maniacal smile on her face. She looks like she’s wearing heavy makeup. To the right of the doll’s head is a badly photoshopped image of a white, thin, conventionally attractive, smiling white woman in a bikini. Very mysterious as to why that image is there, probably one of the characters. The title “Paranormal Adoption” is at the top. Below the title is the tagline, which reads, “Could a child and her evil doll steal your sanity?” The white text at the bottom reads, “Written, Produced, and Directed by Carl Watts.” The color scheme is black, green, red, and brown. Incidentally, Carl Watts accused Blumhouse Pictures of ripping off Paranormal Adoption when it made M3GAN. TMZ has the scoop: https://www.tmz.com/2026/01/07/m3gan-team-sued-plagiarize-script/

Read 2026 #VA-01 Democratic candidate Tim Cywinski’s stirring post then join him this Saturday at Monroe Park in Richmond for No Kings Day! And when you see him, tell him, “There’s no need to fear—Underdog is here!” (Just read his article and you’ll know what I mean. 😁)
Screenshot of the cartoon character Underdog from the titular show. He’s got a blue and red superhero outfit on like Superman except his costume has a white letter “U” on his chest. Underdog is flying into a blue sky, surrounded by black sparkles.

How could I not caption this photo of 2026 #VA-01 Democratic candidate @salaambhattiva.bsky.social at the @neighbors4change.bsky.social birthday event?!!! 🤣 neighbors4change.com/happy-birthd...
The one on the right has a speech bubble saying, “Salaam Bhatti knows a good piece of cake when he sees one.” The woman in the middle has a speech bubble saying, “Right on, sister.”
