I watched The Thing from Another World (1951) and was struck by how much this film is a time capsule of the Fourth Estate in its former glory. The Air Force treats intrepid reporter Ned “Scotty” Scott as one of the team and helps him get the truth about the UFO to the people. Big nostalgia vibe!

Black and white screenshot from The Thing from Another World (1951). Features the six main characters, five of which are Air Force members grouped around seated reporter Ned “Scotty” Scott as he radios his story to the American people about an alien who came to Earth. The image is symbolic of how important Scotty’s character is to the story and reflects a time when the Fourth Estate was a true political force to be reckoned with, unlike today when it’s compromised by a tyrannical American government.
