More snow coming in... Headteachers face awful decisions about whether it is safe to open the school site. Site managers complete Herculean tasks keeping paths clear and gritted and pipes unfrozen. In so many small, rural schools, those jobs are done by one and the same person.

A huge hug and a big mug of hot chocolate to all those heads who had difficult decisions to make today about opening, delaying opening, not opening... There's so many factors to take into account and you can never please everyone. Thank you for working to keep everyone safe.

Sending love and solidarity to the surprisingly high number of contacts who we know got the Ofsted call yesterday. It makes no sense that I can see to inspect a school in the first week of spring term but there we have it. Let's hope you get to show the best of what you do.
