4/8/19, Hull’s last deep sea sidewinder trawler the Arctic Corsair sailed into the sunset for restoration at Dunston Ship Repairs on William Wright Dock. She stayed there until 14/8/26 when she made her last voyage to her new home at the North End Shipyard and be open to the public in Spring 27.

I’m very sorry to hear that Hull historian Ron Fairfax has passed away. He was so far ahead of his time championing this city. I had the videos of his Hull stories when I was young. He taught me so much. My deepest sympathy to his wife and family.

Thursday was World Maritime Day. The #HeadscarfRevolutionaries transformed tragedy into change when three #Hull trawlers were lost with 58 men in 1968. Through extraordinary courage and action, they improved safety in the fishing industry and saved countless lives.

Christine Jensen (formerly Smallbone) was awarded the MBE in the year 2000 new years honours list for services to trawler safety and the community of Hull. Christine’s MBE is now on display in the wonderful #HeadscarfRevolutionaries exhibition at Hull’s Maritime Museum.

Lillian Bilocca passed 38 years ago today. Leading the trawler safety campaign, Lil’s passion and determination was boundless, she refused to let any more die at sea and the lives saved are beyond measure. Lil challenged the fishing industry and changed it forever. #HeadscarfRevolutionaries
