Standing in the shadow of Westminster, the #HeadscarfRevolutionaries took with them the grieving community and resolute determination to make a lasting difference. Those #Hull women took the safety campaign to the heart of government. Their success will forever be a highlight in maritime history.

Thursday was World Maritime Day. The #HeadscarfRevolutionaries transformed tragedy into change when three #Hull trawlers were lost with 58 men in 1968. Through extraordinary courage and action, they improved safety in the fishing industry and saved countless lives.

Lillian Bilocca carried the sea in her blood and safety of the fishermen on her shoulders. When disaster struck, She demanded change from an industry that underestimated her. Lillian wasn’t just a campaigner, she was as a protector, fearless and unshakeable. #HeadscarfRevolutionaries

The beginning of 1968 three trawlers lost taking 58 brave men with them. Their names and their courage endure, held forever in the heart of the community they loved. A ship’s voyage may end at a port, but its journey continues in the souls of those it touched. #TripleTrawlerDisaster

From the opposition they fought against to the change they forced onto the world. The #HeadscarfRevolutionaries didn’t just fight for safety, they fought for everyone who wanted to see their loved ones come home. Their courage still protects and the story will teach us what strength looks like.
