hey outlook team. What is this? otherwise completely flat UI... i'm thinking purple mat-preview sphere tangented in a circle under a pizza slice lava lamp. The triangle? too big. Put bevels outside the sphere so it connects. inside? no connect. drop shadow. More shadows. light source? ha! Add dots
the error icon in Microsoft Outlook. It looks like the designer just started clicking buttons on FX layers in photoshop while their cat walked across the keyboard. Why is the dot purple? nothing else in the app has that color. Nothing else uses gradients like this. What's with the yellow drop shadow in the circle.

IT's just a bunch of nonsense. It feels AI generated in the "locally coherent, globally ubsurd" way, but somebody made this. A human made these decisions. I think somebody in a 2D software was told to make it look 3D, and someone in 3D software watched and cried. I think the larger circle makes me want to cry, myself.

Software should have whimsical, fun, and not be required to make sense! but the rest of this software is microsoft outlook. Nothing else is on this designers wavelength. This icon lives in it's own world. There's a file on oneDrive server in microsofts company that is just called 'fuckit.png'.

I want to know why this is here. I want to learn this icons secrets. I want to take the purple default-shaded sphere with rim-light and throw it into the sun.

Paramount+ wanted to use the image on the left as a poster for the wrath of Khan, so they used everyone's least favorite technology to generate the rest of the image.
A close up of captain kirk getting his eyes scanned. It is cut off above the eyebrows and below his mouth. The same image in a thumbnail for Star Trek, the wrath of Khan. But AI has painted the rest of the image so that Kirk is a balding man in a business suit.

Description:
Sometimes, you're talking with someone and you just seem to click. Other times, you just can't seem to get comfortable: they're standing too close or too far away for comfort, making too much or too little eye contact, touching or not touching you in a way that just doesn't quite feel right. But where do our senses of what feels comfortable in a conversation come from, and how can they be so different from each other?

While testing Claude code as an educator, I’ve been mostly disappointed. The only saving grace is that - even though the outputs haven’t been proven usable - it is enjoyable to do the design exercise of explaining a project; and asserting design principles

a pop-up on Windows asking for an app to open an explicitly Apple OS settings menu. This doesn't make sense, and is clearly a developer error.
