But the OAK Lab just built a new tool to catch them. #cmuhcii authors created a JavaScript keytracker that catches participants copying answers from an AI tool like ChatGPT and pasting them into their Qualtrics survey. How did they write 7 lines of commented code with only 2 keystrokes? Red flag.

Researchers use a variety of checks – impossibly quick response sessions, duplicate IP addresses at the same time, 1 word responses to an open-ended question, and more – to measure the quality of human participants’ surveys from online crowdsourcing platforms. AI cheaters still slipped through.
