Anyway, a couple of nice things that happened today were that we saw a pair of Sacred Kingfishers that had obviously lobbed into town for breeding season AND we rescued a big blob of spitfire caterpillars that were making their way across the carpark looking for a bit of dirt to bury themselves in.

Did a massive kayak with Michael Flatley today. Afterwards, as I wriggled out of my wet gear and into tracky daks & a jumper, some random bloke screeches at me from his car about my wantonness for getting changed in the carpark instead of the toilets. (I was covered up the whole time. NO FLASHING.)

The NQ-sister popped round. She brought me mulberry jam and I handed over a stack of 10 cent bottles I’d been saving for her. We made various plans and laid schemes. I’ve lit candles and turned on the lamps and am returning to my reading.

New Girl came over last night for crafting and gossip and dinner and screaming at how much paper stuff I brought home from my holiday. (No shame: ephemera is king.) After she left I cleaned up the kitchen, plumped the cushions (no fuqqing chopping tyvm), fluffed up the throws and drank MOAR wine.

Jessie Mo flew back to Canberra yesterday. We had a fabbo time, including a day trip to see wildflowers in various locales. Now I’m propped up in bed with ME PUZZLES and an iced coffee. Later I must buzz about the house like a self-bluebirding Snow White and then…*ominous music*…THE GARDEN.

Belle and Sebastian last night at The Astor. IMO fab show; loved the holiday slide show midway through, letting people up on stage to dance, Dockers references and the meandering stories. Jessie Mo was hilariously outraged at the indulgence so we left before the final encore (which was all good).

Camden market has also delivered something precious for the Wall of Kitsch.

A rectangular melamine plate, edged in an elegant lavender colour, which is overlaid with dainty gold scrolls. There are two portraits on the plate: one of a young Queen Elizabeth II and one of her in her #senioryears. Between them is more gold scrolling towards the upper and lower edge of the plate which frames the words: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 1926-2022.

Last night when we got to the b&b we were all SO EXHAUSTED. Our Danish host had taken us on a final 12km death march around Copenhagen and then the walk through the airport to our gate was INSANE. So we just wanted something easy for dinner. Turns out there’s a Nandos right round the corner.
