Glad to be a part of this work where our study suggests a non-canonical role of Mcm7, a replication protein, in the maintenance of microtubule and nucleolar homeostasis. Kudos to @srijanadutta.bsky.social for leading the study.

New preprint from the lab! One reason why I chose work on trypanosomes is to address this question "How do they determine kinetochore position without a centromeric histone H3 variant, CENP-A/CenH3?" After working on this question for 16 years, we finally got a clue

So proud to watch Jana turn a side quest into an entire research programme. Couldn’t imagine a more well-deserved outcome. 😍 The mighty yeast reveals what we believe are general principles of centromere evolution! Behind the curtain: communities.springernature.com/posts/counti... #MEvoSky 🧪🌎

Elegant work by my colleagues Jenna & Anna Erzberger: information transfer across cellular compartment boundaries can be encoded in the distribution of surface-embedded particles (integrins, GPCRs…) True for the nuclear envelope too - we provide data on NPC-microtubule interactions in Ichthyosporea

Moonlighting role of autophagy-related protein Atg11 in error-free chromosome segregation - BioPatrika
Researcher Spotlight - We explored a novel role of an autophagy-related protein, Atg11, in the microtubule (MT)-mediated process of chromosome segregation.

My postdoctoral work on the non-canonical role of an autophagy-related protein at the spindle pole body (SPB) is now out in @plosbiology.org (doi.org/10.1371/jour...).

Autophagy-related protein Atg11 is essential for microtubule-mediated chromosome segregation
Autophagy-related proteins have roles in several cellular processes, but their function in genome stability remains unclear. Here, the authors show that Atg11 has an essential non-canonical function i...
