sometimes i get really angry thinking about enamorus because it had the potential to be an all time pokemon and they fucked it up. theres SO MUCH you can do with heart patterns on a snake, that shit exists in real life, spyro has a heart on his head!! The fact that it's seen as something done only by Ontologically Evil Bad Guys makes it very difficult for some to accept that it can be and is, all the time, done by ordinary, unassuming people, even your friends or those you admire. This bias feeds into apologetics that often re-traumatize victims.

There is literally no piece of media in existence that is genuinely flawless, everything you enjoy is worthy of criticism, and if you truly love something, you'll also acknowledge those flaws. By doing so, you increase the chance of new things being made that are even better and address those flaws.

If you're a fan of a big media property, a really dedicated and invested fan, you have to learn to respond to criticism of that thing in a calm and reasonable manner rather than as a personal attack. In fact, you should learn to do the criticism yourself, without feeling embarrassed for liking it.
