This just feels like Spare iPad as a Product. They also think people will buy a whole bunch and have them all over the house What do we think about the price? I'm thinking $499-ish?

The only tricky thing left is how to handle floating UI like this share button It's tricky to figure out some heuristics for how much padding those need to have to align with toolbars

2¢ on updating UI for iPhone Duo so far: It's been surprisingly easy?? The opened UI is basically an iPad so no issues there. The closed one was a bit tricky because horizontal safe area and layout margins are a thing now, but still, it was fairly straightforward

Thank you! And there's a lot more that's not visible there too!!

It's September, iOS 27 and friends are out, and the iPhone Duo will be here soon Which makes this the perfect time to write about what I'd like to see at WWDC next year

Device Hub would *feel* 10x nicer if they used a clear or Liquid Glass window style All the controls are in glass anyway, so you can just get rid of that big ass white background

Xcode 27.2 beta shipped when 27.1 should've. Meanwhile 27.1 only has a new iOS simulator, no other OSes So I guess 27.1 is just 27.0 but disclosed about iPhone Duo??? I've heard of shipping the org chart but shipping the NDA chart is crazy

020

Harshil @harshil.net · 19/09/2026

Hmm the Xcode 27.1 beta doesn't even have the beta badge on the icon. This definitely feels rushed

121

Harshil @harshil.net · 19/09/2026

So if the Xcode 27.1 beta was going to be ready in just another couple days why did they drop the Xcode 27.2 beta right before?

Harshil @harshil.net · 18/09/2026

Thank you!! Yeah that's my favourite one too

Got it, thank you!! Wonder if I should maybe just expense a Garmin haha

100

Harshil @harshil.net · 14/09/2026

Noted! I've never had a Garmin btw so I'm curious, are there any specific data points you like from there that aren't synced with HealthKit?

100

Harshil @harshil.net · 14/09/2026

Awesome, thank you! I have been meaning to look into Garmin sync too tbh, at least a few people have now mentioned its HealthKit sync isn't great

Also Peak is getting better on larger devices! The whole app just works and looks so much better on iPad now Get a sneak peek of what Peak for iPhone Duo will look like!

There are also a bunch of improvements for workouts! You can now see 10K splits for your long runs, and when you want to share a workout there are new layouts and a slick new theme picker

100

Harshil @harshil.net · 14/09/2026

There are also 18 (eighteen!) new themes in this release! They're inspired by neutral colours for fall: Brown, Slate, and Mono, and in a whole bunch of styles I'm personally a huge fan of slate. It's a slightly cooler, bluer grey
