“I hope they call me Henry when I die, too.” #adventureland

Script from Adventureland:

Joel: What's the point of being a writer or an artist anyway? Herman Melville wrote fuckin' Moby Dick, he was so poor and forgot by the time he died that in his obituary they called him Henry Melville. You know, like why bother? They're just going to forget our fuckin' names anyway. I heard Em went back to New York.
James Brennan: I wish it didn't end like that, I should've - I don't know.
[Beat
James Brennan: Your Herman Melville story that - that's bullshit.
Joel: It's true, they called him Henry.
James Brennan: No, I mean, he wrote a seven-hundred page allegorical novel about the whaling industry. I think he was a pretty passionate guy, Joel. I hope they call me Henry when I die, too.
Joel: One can only hope

Really enjoyed playing this. Love the palette and the story. Finished in about 35 mins and missed one collectible. Planning on playing through again to find it.

What if we kissed on a motorcycle while I hold a plastic cup of pickles?

On a city street corner at a stop light, a black Harley Davidson is facing away from us with a man driving and a woman riding. He’s leaned back and they are kissing. She is holding out to the right a plastic drink cup full of dill pickle chips.

1/2 “History unravels gently, like an old sweater. It has been patched and darned many times, remitted to suit different people, shoved in a box under the sink of censorship to be cut up for the dusters of propaganda, yet it always—eventually—manages to spring back into its old familiar shape.”

The new Broken Social Scene is so comfy. It feels a lot closer to their first two records (not including KC Accidental). Not as layered as self-titled, but still has that sense of bottled chaos. Feist’s track is beautiful. And Hannah Georgas has a track! youtu.be/vCgvAb_cwBE?...

GNU Terry Pratchett! Your work means a lot to me. I even have a tattoo of the world you created.

A black tattoo on a forearm of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. The flat discworld rests on the backs of 4 elephants that stand on top of a giant turtle, the Great A’Tuin, who floats through space towards a destination debated by many a philosopher.

DVD shopping at Goodwill while Avril Lavigne’s Complicated is playing is an absolute vibe. $16 well spent.

A pile of DVDs on a Goodwill checkout counter. From top to bottom, Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Volume One, Extreme Days, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Ace Ventura When Nature Calls, The Water Horse, Hot Fuzz, Psycho, Full Metal Jacket, Gremlins, Nacho Libre, August Rush, Agent Cody Banks. Yes, my taste is immaculate, thanks for asking.

The Neverending Book - Naoki Matayoshi and Shinsuke Yoshitake. Seriously good book. Like a pictures book for adults, yet still appropriate for kids. Some stories are a paragraph, and some are 10 pages. Some stories have deep morals and others a simple silly punchline. Highly recommend. #booksky
