As it stands now, AFAIK EAC is acting more as a DRM than anti-cheat. It closed a lot of exploits but server side content scanning closed wayyyy more of them.

There's mostly just technical and marketing barriers, like VSekai & BarkVR have a lot fewer issues from a longevity standpoint (Godot-based & FOSS), but are even less mature than Basis and Overte (custom game engine forked off HiFi).

Nothing is ultimately actually stopping us from building or moving to a platform that's managed more openly - which I think would fix a lot of the problems. There's Overte which is a non-profit, and Basis which is a good starting ground for a new platform (but it's still at the mercy of Unity)..

I've been thinking this might make sense for avatar creators too, but I have no idea what this sort of thing would look like, or what benefit it would have. People with CE access aren't employed by VRChat for better or for worse. And AFAIK the whole situation not much different from Lyft or Uber?

I feel like EAC blew over because we actually had no where else to really go... and that's still the case. Roblox and VRChat really make me wonder sometimes if there's really anyway to run a platform like this as a for profit business..

#BasisLoadTest Basis had another load test the other day and I was getting a solid 60FPS on Linux in a Quest 3 with the Steam Hardware Survey most popular GPU.. with 200+ real people in the instance all hanging out and talking!

BasisVR is doing a give away thingy, and I kinda need that blue thingy in the middle.

Yeah, I suspect this too, lots of people claiming VD can do 800mbps streams, but in ever other streamer the Quest 3 breaks down at 400mbps almost exactly. Maybe VD is doing some kind of delta compression between eyes or something to get a perceived near doubling in bitrate?

(Video quality hasn't ever bothered me as much as latency does with wireless. It feels so unresponsive compared to a wired headset)

Does anyone know what they're actually doing to make it so much better? I haven't used SteamVR Link in a while, but I remember the fovea area being a lot sharper than WiVRn, but at high bitrates, WiVRn looks fine to me. I think a lot of the steamers are YUV420 and maybe VD is YUV444 or something??

I did open VRC to a world with FXAA and turned on & off MSAA and while Blender TAAU 2x is shimmers way less on edges of objects (this model shimmers a lot on the surface, it's got a lot of high frequency details, but my test world is pretty flat & smooth).

I really wish we had good TAA upscaling and deferred rendering for VR outside of Blender. This looks so crisp and clear compared to VRChat/Unity BIRP... #gamedev
