#31daysofhorror Day 3 BRAINDEAD Peter Jackson’s hilarious & grotesque comedy gore movie is the splatterfest Citizen Kane. It has 2-3 of the most inventive on-screen deaths in cinema history and the last 20mins should be taught in film school. Astonishing Practical FX ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

#31daysofhorror Day 2 RE-ANIMATOR A glorious symphony of gooey practical effects madcap energy and batshit performances that has aged perfectly. Just a huge amount of fun, silliness and (like the majority of my professional life) talking heads ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

#31daysofhorror Day 1 BONE LAKE A shocking and bold opening (crossbow through ballsack anyone?) gives way to a toothless and cliche ridden satire that’s tonally confused. Not funny enough and too restrained but some decent performances kept me watching ⭐️⭐️

Tim Curry was a brilliant actor who did so much great work, but IT will always be the first movie that opened the door to the joys of horror for me. Still an all time favourite performance. RIP 💔

Late to this but it’s a really fun old school blockbuster rooted by a really brilliant Gosling (somehow managing to pull off the geeky schlub despite being the most handsome man in the world). Watched with my kids & delighted in their emotional investment in characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A human sat down, watched this film and at a certain point in the process said “Yes that the cut. Perfect. No notes”. Think about that for a minute. The 70s really were a decade to be alive and creative. #beyondfriday

As I’m missing tonight I just watched Terminator in #bootlegfriday birthday solidarity. Apart from being one of my favourite movies my only comment is to reiterate my disbelief Michael Biehn was never an A+ list star. He’s an incredibly good actor & proved his chops with Aliens, The Abyss &Tombstone

#nowwatching Ricochet. Peak handsome Denzel, Pollack, Ice T, Lithgow, Ventura… A forgotten 90s thriller that absolutely rules. An insane convoluted plot, shit loads of fabulous bloodwork and huge explosions, we genuinely didn’t know how good we had it back then

Cultural insensitivities aside (& there are definitely a few) I just watched this with my kids & it is still an absolutely stellar and breathless action film. Up there with the best sequels of all time with one of the most enjoyable kids performances of the 80s. Ke Huy Quan nearly steals the movie
