Before AI companies, data centers were a thing, they just didn’t rape and pillage the communities they were in. Responsible data centers can exist, even at mass scale, speculators just don’t want to do the work or spend the $ it would take to do so. Kevin O’Leary is the poster child for this.

LOL, yes. Data centers house IT equipment, be it local, colo or cloud. My company houses part of its data on local servers (a local data center) and part at a colo facility (also a data center). AWS hosts cloud data in data centers all over the world.

I didn’t ask it, would not have even thought to : ) I prompted it to find a specific document which I knew existed but had been unable to find. It did then asked if I wanted more data regarding the document and I said yes. Or something similar, I don’t save my prompts.

I posted this to start this conversation. The ONLY use case I personally have found for it was it found a very specific document I could not find using 3 different traditional search engines and it acted as an editor to tone down my argument. I am aware there are other use cases.

Oh I immediately saw the irony! I am not anti data center, there are many types & are needed if done in a responsible manner & pay for the cost of their usage. I am against ones that destroy people’s homes, quality of life & the environment which the one I was arguing against would do.

Exactly. I went to each source to make sure the data it returned was accurate because it can’t be trusted. The only reason I tried it in the first place was because it found a specific document I had been trying to find and was unable to through traditional search engines.

I personally pay for Kagi, it Is my go to and it did not find the info I was looking for. Nor did DuckDuckGo. The only reason I tried Claude (which my company pays for) was as a last resort.

I then wrote my argument in my voice but had it review it to make suggestions on taking the emotion out of it, which it did. I did not take all the suggestions but it made some good points & was helpful. For very specific use cases I like it but do not have much need for it in my day to day.

It would have taken me hours to find everything on my own now that Google is dead. Unprompted, it gave me arguing points to use. I made it double check its work (Claude does make shit up) and I did check the references it provided.

I’ll tackle this, though I am on at least AI hater list. I just used it to help me craft my argument against a data center to present to my local government. It found facts & data on the environmental impact as well as a document I wanted to reference that I had been unable to find.

Not sticking up for Paramount but it is all Taylor Sheridan’s doing. Propaganda sells no matter who is in office, look at how well Homeland did. Sheridan recently spoke out against Trump on Rogan though and is leaving Paramount, according to WSJ, for political differences. 🤷‍♀️
