This generation will not be defined by its great games or incredible tech, but rather by corporate greed, mismanagement, and anti-consumer practices.

Did the Weather Underground have a point?

I was so excited for this. I love all those old school Universal Monster movies, especially Bride of Frankenstein, so director Maggie Gyllenhaal plucking that character and idea and filtering it throu...

I don't agree that Pixar has been in a slump, but I will admit that nothing about Hoppers marketing campaign got me really excited to check it out. From the Avatar inspired body hopping to the basic f...

When Sam Raimi finally returned after a nine year hiatus to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it was as if he never left. He delivered an incredibly entertaining film that was a wond...

Emerald Fennell is like the female Zack Snyder. She is an incredible director when it comes to the visuals, but she needs to let go of writing her own scripts. Just like Snyder, I am dying to see what...

In 2018, Director Bart Layton completely blew me away with one of the most unique and gripping films I have ever seen; American Animals. I have been waiting for years for him to make a follow-up to th...

I'm surprised by how mixed I was on this! To be clear, the movie is a blast and even lower tier Sam Raimi is better than most movies. But with such a simple and perfect concept and with Raimi finally ...

Cody Beckman’s 2025 in review

28 Years Later stunned me last year. Who knew that a surprise Legacy sequel to two very solid zombie movies from the early aughts would wind up being my favorite movie of 2025? I thought Director Dann...

Greenland: Migration is an extremely rare entry in the very niche subgenre of "Disaster Movie Sequels". Most Disaster movies don't need a sequel because for the characters that survived, once the disa...

When people complain that Hollywood doesn't make original films anymore, you can immediately point to this as a perfect example that they do actually. Marty Supreme is a wildly unique and original tal...

It's sort of crazy how much I love these movies. When the first one came out, I sort of resisted it in some lame attempt to be cool. It was that hipster thinking of disliking something that was so unb...

I loved the first Zootopia for a couple of reasons. I thought that the characters were wonderful, the city of Zootopia was breathtaking and demanded a docuseries exploring the ins and outs, and that t...

I loved the first Sisu movie, but I was a tad disappointed in the action. They sold it as a WWII John Wick and that wasn't really what it was. There was certainly some great action, but it wasn't exac...

This was an absolute disaster and I'm honestly shocked. The first Wicked was in my Top 10 of 2024 so I was ecstatic to see the finale. But I guess Wicked: For Good was always doomed to fail? Supposedl...

Dan Trachtenberg rules. He has yet to make a movie I didn't love. He came out swinging with the phenomenal 10 Cloverfield Lane, followed that up with the brilliant Prey, then made an easy entry in my ...

Near the end of this movie I started to think about the original Star Wars. Released in 1977, just a few short years after the Vietnam War ended, George Lucas made a movie about the Rebels (the Viet C...

In a dystopian, alternate-America ruled by a totalitarian regime, 50 teenage boys take part in a deadly annual walking contest, forced to maintain a minimum pace or be executed, until only one survivo...

I'm a little surprised to see so many people coming down so hard on this movie. Is it the best of The Conjuring films? No, but it's also not even remotely near the bottom. It's another excellent entry...

I'm actually shocked this movie even exists. The first movie was great and I totally wanted to see more, but after Bob Odenkirk's heart attack while filming Better Call Saul, I thought that was it. Th...

It's so crazy that a member of The Whitest Kids U' Know, Zach Cregger, has become a premiere voice in the Horror community. I shouldn't be surprised since Horror and Comedy require very similar skill ...

This so easily could have been a straight to streaming quality movie that was dumped onto Disney+ unceremoniously. I thought that's exactly what it would be. Consider me extremely surprised to find th...

I'm a pretty new fan of the Naked Gun series. I've seen half the episodes of Police Squad, which were great, and I've seen the original movie, which is pretty great as well. I'm not quite as in love w...
