So you there between those I always call it Justification Machinery. The equal and opposite way people feel shame, people also have this self-soothing apparatus built in that is constantly working to justify ourselves. It works too well. If doesn’t work well enough.

There are so many things to do which are difficult to perform because they are labor intensive or complex. And there are so many other things which are difficult to do bc you could be making the wrong choice, have the wrong side effects, you don’t know the future, and you know the past is imperfect
