Ensimmäinen laaja fibromyalgiaan keskittyvä geenitutkimus osoittaa, että sairauden taustalla on keskushermoston herkistyminen kivulle eli keskushermoston poikkeava tapa käsitellä kipua. #[www.helsinki.fi/fi/uutiset/g...

New preprint on genetics of cannabis use and sleep 🧬 🧵 1/4 We computed a meta-analysis of cannabis use to date (All of Us + UK Biobank; 152K cases, 220K controls) identifying 39 independent loci. Link: www.medrxiv.org/content/10.6...

Central role of glycosylation processes in human genetic susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infections with Omicron variants - Nature Genetics
Genome-wide analyses identify 13 loci associated with susceptibility to infection with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants, including variation in ST6GAL1, previously associated with influenza susceptibility,...

📣 🧬🦠 New article out on genetic susceptibility to infection with Omicron variants of SARS-CoV-2. In this international GWAS meta-analysis, we identified loci not found for earlier variants of the virus. The findings point to a central role of glycosylation. 👇 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

I didn't have much hope that we'd find genetic determinants of long-COVID, but after years of work, Vilma Aho, Tomoko Nakanisha, Hugo Zeberg and Hanna Ollila made it happen! (Among a few others :-)) www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Finally online - sharing our findings that #Lyme disease bacteria can live in female reproductive organs for over a year and increase risk for gynecological disease!!! We found this increased risk in mice and humans! 😱 (thread below) www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...
