One fantastic point made at @worksinprogress.bsky.social 'Can Europe catch up on AI' talk. The market seems winner take all, even meta and xAI are making ~no money from their models. Any EU champion would likely struggle and need endless subsidies as the revenue goes to OpenAI and Anthropic

Can you trick the German into fighting the air war in a favorable area? (Over controlled ground, with radar) Basically do a battle of Britain, but over the Netherlands.

Really interesting point. Could also apply to the Vlaams Belang, who fed on Flemish-Waloon issues too rather than only anti immigration.

As the UK I feel it's more fun letting the German take France and then be able to do a proper DDay. But then I'm currently at an hotel 2km from Sword beach so might be biased

It's interesting how knowing in advance what the enemy will do will change the feel of the war. In our MP ruleset for exemple we have to have a lot of rules designed to give Japan a chance by limiting US deployment pre-Pearl Harbor (no troops or fleet west of Hawaii essentially)

To any peeps in Brussels interested in effective climate action, the org I'm part of (CCL) is organizing a discovery evening. We lobby policy maker for carbon taxation, the most efficient, least disruptive form of climate action. More info here: luma.com/8oa9fqey

In our MP game we limit the BEF to 8 divisions. Enough for Britain to have a fight in the battle of France, not enough to block Germany. Also no logi bombing.

BIG NEW piece by me. A few years ago, if you asked me to summarize my entire worldview in one article, I would’ve said it was too broad and too difficult. But this year, I decided to do it.

Stanislaw Lem is so good. I was reading an antology of some of his robotic short stories, ending in "The Mask" ("Maska"), described as a most disturbing love story. No wonder, the plot is that a robot assassin disguised as a woman is sent to a royal ball to kill one of the courtiers.
