A pretty incredible four paragraphs from The Boston Globe. When you simply list all of the horribly violent things Donald Trump has said just in the past year or so, it really drives home how ridiculous it is to "both sides" about rhetoric. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/04/28/n...
Trump, who after Saturday’s shooting called for unity, has a long history of using violent rhetoric against his opponents. Earlier this month, Trump faced criticism from both Democrats and conservatives for threatening to kill a “whole civilization” in a social media post attacking directed at Iran.During his third campaign, he warned there would be a “bloodbath” if he lost the election. He has also continued to describe migrants in derogatory terms, including claims that undocumented immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.”

In November, Trump suggested several Democrats deserved to be put to death for a video in which they urged service members and intelligence officials to refrain from following orders if they broke the law.“It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand - We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.”

When DOGE arrived at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the operatives had no real background in nuclear issues. They boxed out experienced hands, forcing resignations and massive exodus of talent. Over 400 people have since left or been forced out. Our full story: propub.li/3OBQMwk
Graphic displaying how hundreds of staff who do work related to nuclear reactors and their safety have left and not been replaced. The data is categorized into six sections: Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, Nuclear Regulatory Research, Nuclear Security and Incident Response, Regional offices, and Other offices. Each orange square underneath a category represents a loss in staff, while each gray square represents an addition of staff. The graphic shows that there have been 443 losses and 57 arrivals across all six of these categories. Note: The data is from the week ending Jan. 24, 2025, through Feb. 13, 2026. Trump has made it meaningless to negotiate with the US. 1. Trump decides everything that is important. 2. Trump lies all the time. 3. Trump does not recognize agreements but violate them. Conclusion: Only arms matter. All have to arm as much & fast as possible. US is lost.

Reminds me of the infuriating Boeing 737 MAX saga, in which the sole person actually prosecuted was the guy in charge of the simulators, which weren't even the problem, it was cheap, lazy engineering. Not one executive even indicted. Boeing itself got a tidy DOJ agreement.

John Oliver (on right) gestures with his hands as he speaks. On left, a ProPublica headline from December 15, 2025 reads: “Trump Officials Celebrated With Cake After Slashing Aid.
