The lack of basic decency Angie Craig and her surrogates are displaying towards the Hoffman family is ASTONISHING to me. I’ve known that Angie Craig had bad political instincts since last fall when she completely bungled the endorsement process, but this is just nasty.

If you actually wanted to recover from abhorrent behavior the statement would be “I’ve contacted John and his family to apologize for my awful conduct. I can see now how inappropriate it was and there’s no excuse for what I did. I’ve offered to make a financial contribution to a charity of their

First, John Hoffman was very clear she sent a SURROGATE to the hospital to hassle him, second, those texts only further prove his point that she’s a cold blooded opportunist!

Texting someone less than 2 months after their family was attacked at their home and they are recovering from 9 gun shot wounds to ask for an endorsement at the most visible and vulnerable point of their life is pathetic and repugnant.

Six months ago, Alex Pretti was shot by federal immigration agents on the streets of Minneapolis, just 18 days after ICE fatally shot Renee Good. Alex was a 37-year-old intensive care nurse for veterans, an outdoorsman, a dog lover, a brother, and a son.

I’m currently reading Settler Colonial History by David Hugill, and not only is it a great history of the harm done to urban Indigenous people in Minneapolis after 1945, the parallels to Metro Surge are frankly chilling.

Helpful breakdown of this Commissioner’s race, Greene had so many challengers I was wondering wtf is going on, but it sounds like she’s a solid incumbent who deserves reelection (which was my impression so far but it’s good to have more info)

Someday Lyndale Avenue construction will be complete and I can stop losing my mind over the total lack of logic from these supposed business experts!

THANK YOU. Red Cow especially had a massive parking lot literally right next to the restaurant (that was free parking!) they still closed.

Mind you: the promotion of local businesses would be easier if said local businesses stopped shitting on the actual people who bike and walk and live here, but apparently the only money that counts is money from the suburbs so what do I know?

Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 09/07/2026
Things that could be of ACTUAL USE: Grant funding to help businesses get through construction phases. Additional patrols to prevent break ins. Promote Lyndale Ave like the Visit Lake Street campaign during Metro Surge.

This is no longer about public engagement, this is a handful of people holding their breath and stomping their feet to try and get their way.

Is this business owner going to pony up for the NINE MILLION in federal funding that’ll be lost if they delay this even further?

The sloppiness of their opposition is genuinely offensive to me, I can’t even lie.

Say they pause the construction, and then a sewer line breaks, because Lyndale is at the end of its current life-cycle. Is the Uptown Association going to apologize? Cover the cost of clean up and repairs?

Meh. Anyway, it looks like good things are/have been happening at the city-county DFL convention, which pleases me.

Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 14/06/2026
It’s not that I don’t think centrists-moderates can’t win here, I’m saying it won’t be a cakewalk for them or a coronation. You need to run a smart campaign (Frey unfortunately is good at this) and/or split the base somehow (again, Frey is good at this!)
110
Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 14/06/2026
You’ve got barely-disguised Republicans trying to run under the DFL ticket, people setting themselves up in opposition to Ilhan Omar not realizing how popular she is in the district…

Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 14/06/2026
I don’t want to overstate things, and God knows Jacob Frey being mayor for three terms is enough to humble any local progressive, but I remain confused at people underestimating how blue Minneapolis/Hennepin County as a whole is.

Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 14/06/2026
On top of everything else wrong with this dude, it was just an insult to people’s intelligence. I still cannot fathom why he wanted to run for office in HENNEPIN COUNTY of all places.

Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 14/06/2026
oh, EXCELLENT news, he was so obviously the best candidate and I am especially pleased that he made it through on the first ballot!
000
Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 02/06/2026
Here’s the problem with that—Frey’s relationship with the county is ABYSMAL, and frankly he’s got problems of his own without trying to take the county board on

Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 02/06/2026
It’s maddening to hear this shit as someone who lives in Uptown, buses and walks and goes to local businesses all the time, and who would like to be able to walk down major streets without fearing being hit by a car, or having to share a narrow sidewalk with bikes!
010
Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 02/06/2026
But instead we have people acting like parking will be outlawed on Lyndale, complaining about medians, and making Hennepin sound like a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Have y’all be down to 31st and Hennepin? Bc that block is thriving.
110
Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 02/06/2026
You don’t have anyone from the county there, you’re not letting anyone else speak, and you’re saying the same bullshit and lies you said last time! Shockingly, people don’t respond well to things like that!
160
Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 02/06/2026
It’s a real pity that so many of these business owners are committed to complaining about parking and medians, because this is a solid point that I think people can get behind!

I am all for civil discourse, I also think a chunk of the heckling was Unhelpful, but had they promised people a chance to offer rebuttals or provide their own feedback, that meeting would be going far more smoothly.

Hangatu @hangatu.bsky.social · 02/06/2026
For the life of me I cannot understand why they blocked anyone from offering rebuttals/a countering viewpoint and then were surprised by people being aggravated and heckling.

Community Notice - Cedar-Riverside | Saturday, January 17
Community leaders in Cedar-Riverside, including elected officials, rapid response teams, faith leaders, community organizations, and residents, are sharing the following information to ensure safety and clarity this weekend.
We have been made aware that a small group of racist and anti-Muslim agitators may attempt to come into the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood on Saturday, January 17. Their intention appears to be to provoke disruption and create fear. Our community will not be drawn into that.
To support safety and stability, trained community patrollers wearing yellow vests, faith leaders wearing orange vests, and local law enforcement, including the Sheriff's Office and the Minneapolis Police Department, will be present to monitor and respond to any potential concerns.
Guidance for Cedar-Riverside Community Members
• Do not be afraid
• Go about your day as usual.
• If you see protest activity or offensive behavior, do not engage, argue, confront, or respond
• Avoid conversations with strangers, individuals recording video, or members of the media.
• If you have concerns or feel unsafe, approach a community patroller or call
911.
Guidance for Those Outside the Community
No protest activity is needed, welcomed, or appropriate inside Cedar-Riverside.
• If you wish to support the community, please coordinate with your local neighborhood rapid response network rather than coming into the area.
Cedar-Riverside is strong, resilient, and united. We look out for one another, and we continue keeping our community safe together.

Another critical piece of missing context in this story: tax dollars flow from the MSP metro to rural Minnesota. People in the city subsidize the lifestyles of people living in the country minnesotareformer.com/2023/12/04/t...

They think we should be like Wisconsin or Iowa, cannot fathom why we aren’t at the very least a swing state, and want to punish us until they win. We can’t let them.

Trump’s obsession with Minnesota is toxic and awful, a clear punishment not just for the state never turning red, but because he and his evil minions think the white liberals and progressives here are traitors.
