I can’t emphasize enough how many of these there are every weekend at private homes in this city- and how careful invite lists are curated. Getting too many invites to attend them all means you are doing well socially!

Bring your own towel, arrive 30 minutes after stated start time, leave before 6pm unless specifically requested to stay, and of course bring drinks to share. Typically a good idea to come with your own insulated non-glass cup.

New Orleans has so many completely unique subcultures- and when you are in it it seems so normal- but sometimes I remember just how odd it is. Like- every weekend in summer- gays have pool parties. It’s stated each time that it’s BYOB, but generally the hosts have food and drink already.

Much of my adult life I have spent weekends playing intense grand strategy or building games (city skylines, railroad tycoon, etc) Now- I feel way too drained of creative juices to want to do that.

Tax me, baby! I worry a lot more about our kids getting a good education and taking care of our elderly and people being able to get to their jobs without delays or burdensome costs. I’ll fly economy twice a year- no problem! (Okay fine, premium economy)

I feel like there are so many utility apps for iOS try and charge for in-app purchases and upgrades- that we should really have open source alternatives. Like: * gps speedometers * white noise machine apps * emdr beepers What else do you all wish there were high-quality, no-IAP utility apps?
