There have been multiple cases where police officers have misused this data for personal reasons without a legal reason. However, they were not caught because of an internal audit. Journalists caught them when they requested the data from Flock. However, Flock is redacting that data now.

LAPD recently removed Flock cameras after experiencing a 32.3% false positive rate for stolen vehicles, in a two month period that was 161 false calls. Where people could have been or were pulled over because of a false positive.

Flock was search 75 million times in a 3.5 year stretch. 21 million times a year on average. The number of stolen vehicles in the US last year was just under 700,000. 21,000,000 searches for 700,000 vehicles? I don’t think so. It makes no sense.
