When there is no utility pole to attach the ghost-shoe memorial to, we use zip ties.

It is day 4 of #WeekWithoutDriving. Getting rides from other folks or paying for a cab is OK. WWD is not a car-free endeavor. It’s about the time & social capital & $$$ you’d spend if you weren’t able to drive yourself. If you were always having to ask for rides. Or pay for cabs.

We went and found the Lego sukkah. It’s in Oak Park, MI, and it was built by Menachem R., with help from his nieces and nephews. During the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, you build a booth and eat meals outside in it. They’re usually made of wood but he got funky with this one!

There is recognition among many people "on our side" that other major public health issues are driven by systemic issues and also preventable. Yet traffic violence is stubbornly still viewed as inevitable and the result of individual behavior (isolated bad drivers or "risk-taking" bicyclists).

What you protect shows what you value. Traffic signal hardware is protected from drivers. People crossing the road aren't.
