This is a fucking bloodbath. 343/halo studios effectively shuttered, arkane and ninja theory to be shuttered most likely, obsidian and rare are being merged into other studios which likely means huge layoffs, playground and turn 10 to merge which likely means the same.

Feeling a bit sad the last couple of weeks, as the company I work for goes deeper & deeper into a AI psychosis. With the new ChatGPT models it seems like my time has come, I wont be replaced by an AI, just by someone willing to use one all the time. ´I want to be a carpenter not a manager at IKEA´

It's so interesting to me how people have been discussing why Halo games haven't been successful since Bungie worked on the series and have all sorts of theory's why. But is seems no one wants to talk about what happens to games when everyone is just hired on as contractors and not employees.

Doesn't matter if the game sold 5 copies or a billion, this was always in the cards. With every day that passes it seems like the games industry is following the hiring style of the film industry. Everything will be project based or short contracts.
