Incredible response and this section in particular is a belief that I've stuck to for a while now.

"Let me be clear: you are not a victim of what Geller did. You watched a YouTube video (or several) and believed in a public persona of goodness crafted by a man who has none. This is not about you, and framing it that way is disturbing. You should consider why you need this to be about you. You may have your own personal response to Geller and his work, but there is no "we." There is just each of us, and how we deal with it ourselves.

The error made in this essay is the same error made by those who think the solution lies in the criminal justice system. We live in a society structured to reward rape. That structure needs to come down before we can start talking about the nuances of how we rehabilitate perpetrators.

I think the world would be a better place if people like this, who take someone else's rape accusation as a personal affront, were never heard from again. Making the conversation about 'complicated feels' instead of a white man hiding his crimes to further his career is stomach turning.
