There was, I think, a pif in NI about playing with random objects that you might find. The random objects being a pipe bomb or some such. I have a vague memory of seeing this in the cinema.

Reading the comments it seems that people are surprised by the price hikes. They were always coming. Access has been heavily subsidised to create a market. The new prices are more reflective of the high price of providing this 'service'. I'm not sure the value provided will be worth the true price.

An issue is that openai and others have promoted llm's as 'AI' lumping it in with ML, vision processing and other useful tools. The technologies used under the hood are very different. They also suggested that llm's were the road to AGI and that was close, which isn't the case.

Depends on the nature of the data on the drives but assuming it's standard household stuff: you can get data wiping software and run that against the drives or grab a couple of small torx drivers and take them apart. Nice magnets and platters inside for projects. Dump the rest in recycling.

There are methods for book scanning that use cameras and cradles to scan the books, turning the pages. The book is intact throughout this process. However, it's much quicker to cut the spine off and run the loose pages through a high speed document scanner. Destroys the book doing this of course.

Make an omelette the same size as the toast. Fold it over as you cook it so it's layered. Use butter if possible as you won't butter the toast to keep the crunch. Salt pepper and whatever on the omelette, togarashi spice is great but maybe too hot for kids. Straight onto the toast, half and serve.

Unfortunately there's a lack of understanding regarding AI, LLMs in particular, and how the technology works. It is complex but tech journalists have done a poor job of explaining it. This has enabled tech companies to promote nonsense claims and lean into pretending they have any human qualities.
