I only saw the highlights, but his goal was a great one. I think the kid is going to be a very good player (worthy of the #1 selection). I hate that he's on Toronto, but I wish him the best.

Love my heat pump. We bought a Senville unit that has a 12,000 BTU head upstairs and down. In summer we can turn on only the upstairs AC and it cools both levels. In winter the downstairs heat warms both levels. Very efficient.

I'll be honest... If someone didn't point out the differences to me, I might not have noticed.

With the Habs on a home stand, and Laval 20 minutes away, they will have no trouble bringing up Fowler if Monty can't go. An EBUG usually only sees the ice in an extraordinary circumstance - both regular goalies are injured in game (or on game day on the road).

The good news is they have another NHL caliber goalie ready to be called up.

"the group WAS" Marty... The group was.

I will add one more thing, I have no idea about any of the Roy stuff other than possibly asking for a trade mid-game (when what was actually said, apparently, was "either he goes, or I go" referring to Tremblay). I suspect many fans don't know much, if anything, about those other things.

StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 9h
I should add, I'm sure from a pure hockey standpoint, Larken, B. Tkachuk, and Scheifele would all help the Habs, but I don't want either of them anywhere near the Habs' locker room. I don't think they fit the culture.

Ok. So I still don't get the intention of the original post. Is it because some Wings fans still like Larken, or so you think Larken would be a good addition to the Habs?

Way more. The idea of "just stay with your man" sounds easy. But chasing a guy in a cycle while he moves the puck to teammates, through the chaos of 9 skaters in one zone... It's easy to see how you can lose your guy. Throw hand offs into the mix and it's a very difficult system to execute.

StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 15h
If you're implying fans loved Roy so they can get over the Habs acquiring Larken, the difference here is most fans didn't know anything about the Roy situation (other than the trade thing) until well after they already loved him in a Habs uni. With Larken we know what we'd be getting.

Yes! That was it.

Yeah, but if you remember their start last season, the D problems, the goaltending issues... They didn't start well then either.

I think most of us old school guys prefer zone. I mean, man on man is a very simple concept, but it's also very hard to execute.

And yet, they somehow got 106 points and made the Conference final! Imagine if they put together the right roster and systems to improve in those areas.

If we were watching this in 1985 I'd agree wholeheartedly.

I think it's less about promoting him and more about knowing he plays best with Nick and Cole and they need a goal. Slaf was on line 2 to help Kapanen and Demidov... Both are out. Reunite one of the best lines in the NHL last season (and leave them together).

I saw it on TV during a pre-season game I think. They had a segment featuring the wife and daughter wearing their jackets for the first game they went to after his death.

Holy crap. As a man, this is frustrating, horrific, embarrassing and sad. And as she says - these are just the convictions! How many more weren't convicted (although guilty)? And how many assaults were never even reported!?

And because he just really liked the jacket and its colour.

But if you got your O-zone faceoff immediately after the penalty call (and in this case, had 17 seconds of playing time in the O-zone), shouldn't that negate having the faceoff in the O-zone again in a new period? I'd agree if the penalty was called at the buzzer.

I would have Dach there. I think he has played better away from the puck than Bolduc has (not that I think Bolduc has been bad). I also think Dach is better at extending possession.

I suspect he heard the rumblings and realized it was a bad look. Not that he was going to skip every optional skate this season... But he probably doesn't miss another one.

Definitely option 2.

Their language and culture pretty much is. In fact, we've made French an official language in ALL of Canada to protect it. But people have to accept cultures are all slowly changing. As the Internet connects us to places and experiences world-wide, it's inevitable things will change.

...Carrier is okay though and Guhle is practicing in a regular jersey, so likely no call ups needed.
010
StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Don't disagree. But that was with only Guhle out. Whoever stayed with the team out of camp was going to sit with everyone else healthy. And he will probably be sent back to Laval when Guhle is back. But if you needed a call up to replace a right hander, it will likely be Reinbacher. Looks like...

Sad state of affairs for Quebec, period. Enough voters need to support this guy to get him elected. It's almost like watching what's happening in the U.S.

This is his second therapy day so far this season so quite possibly.

I don't think his being dominant is a good reason to say it was right to go back. If anything, being dominant suggests what the first point does - he doesn't have anything to learn in the NCAA. But if another year there helps him to prepare physically and mentally for pro hockey, I'm good with it.

He'll have more time to shill for Vladimir Putin.

StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
The only thing there is he's another left shot defender. Engstrom could play on the right side as a left shot (he often has), but Marty likes his D on their strong sides, so if Carrier is out long, and Guhle isn't back, I could see Reinbacher getting called up, certainly before Middlestat would be.

Absolutely. But imagine how much easier game 1 the following regular season would seem in comparison. I see the advantages of that route too.

If he got to spend time with the Habs this playoff coming, played some games, practiced, etc. I suspect it would have an impact on how he prepared this summer.

According to all sources, he's committed to signing in Montreal as soon as this NCAA season is over. His coach says it's all he talks about. But yes, ideally he'd have a good pre-season, make the team out of camp, and start at game 1 of the regular season next year. Although... Those playoff games.

And to burn the first year of his ELC (if playoffs count for that). But all expectations are that Hage will be able to step into the NHL right away, so I don't think they'd be too worried if they needed to play him. He's already on their reserve list.

StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
...unless there is injury or the team needs a shake up. But I think they would play him without hesitation if needed. He would have just finished NCAA playoffs. Not the same, but decent competition.

StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I think they'd like to get him into a couple of regular season games, but Demidov only had two games played before the playoffs. And Hutson surely would have had the Habs made the playoffs in his first year. So I can't see them being afraid to bring him in for the playoffs. He probably won't play...

Not that I want to see Xhekaj or Struble moved (although they have to move at least one), I think Matheson with Reinbacher might be the better idea than Hutson and Reinbacher. Put Hutson with Dobson.

Arpon Basu was saying Nick and Cole need to adjust to Krieder's game more than the other way around, and that makes sense to me given Krieder is a very basic player. We've seen a few plays lately where they've connected, if not scored, so it may be coming.

StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
He's definitely staying. But I think they are going all the way this year and that might mean he doesn't have time to play any NHL games this season. Which is fine if he doesn't. Extends his ELC one more year.

StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It was certainly made to seem that way by some media outlets last season.
010
StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Chemistry can take time. While I thought Krieder was signed to play line 2, I'm totally fine with how they've set it up and expect it will take the better part of 10 games for those guys to figure each other out.
030
StephenWLee @gullpondguy.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
He only played two (of 39) games as a winger last season. He was at C for 37 games. But his faceoff stats were bad for sure. I think he wasn't ready mentally. He's had a rough few years but I think dominating at the NCAA level - in all facets of the game - will make him ready for next season.

To get a point after that mess of a game is not a terrible result. Habs lose 6-5.

I suspect his minutes have been reduced (like everyone in the bottom six right now), but they need to give the top guys the odd rest.

No argument here. They look disorganized. Hard to figure Kapanen out, Krieder in and they can't seem to make it work.
