As today marks 15 years since Dark Souls 1 was released, I've made a Soulsborne tier list to mark the occasion! All titles are scored based on the time of their initial release. 10/10: ER, BB, DS1 9.5/10: SK, DS3 9/10: DS1 Remastered 8.5/10: DS2 Scholar 8/10: DeS Remake

I got the platinum for Sekiro. This game is great. It has a big learning curve, but the combat is satisfying to master (though the camera is wonky sometimes.) It's got a cool story and setting; I recommend the default settings w/ Japanese voices and English subtitles. 9.5/10

The Shura ending in Sekiro is bad for sure and has the worst outcomes - but I have to admit that it also goes kinda hard with the image of Wolf flexing his newfound power with both Mortal Blades.

Sword Saint Isshin is one of the most incredible bosses FromSoftware has ever made. He's a strong challenge and has some stuff that can seem overwhelming at times, but I'm happy I got to see what all the hype was about with him. Not as tough as Malenia or PCR but very formidable.

I have arrived at a strange, but beautiful place. FromSoftware's games are known for their difficulty, sure. That said, there are many beautiful things to be observed in them as well. Sekiro is no different in that regard.

I had such high hopes for 2xko, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised a company like Riot completely failed to understand their own project. I feel especially bad for all the fgc people that put so much heart and work into this only to get put in such an awful situation. Incredibly bleak outcome.

Checked the GOML melee brackets. I saw 9 players who've been on a New England Melee state PR that made Top 64, including a few NEM players who made upsets to get there. Didn't go as well as it possibly could've for everyone, but I'd say that's not a bad showing. :)

I don't know what motivates someone to do this to themselves. I think Dark Souls 2 is a decent game, but the amount of practice that goes into doing something like this with all of those restrictions is nuts. The Company of Champions alone reduces your damage output by 20%.

Looking back on it, the jump in boss quality between base game Dark Souls 2 and base game Dark Souls 3 is pretty nuts. The DLC bosses in DS2 definitely help to redeem that game to an extent, but the difference is pretty nuts for a pair of games that released only two years apart.

Me and my family watched the World Cup Final together, and I had to explain to them how the offsides rule works as Spain had a goal disallowed late in the game. My dad exclaimed, "that's a really stupid rule. You're supposed to get it to the guy down the field!"

After about 65 hours and 3 playthroughs, I got the plat for the Demon's Souls Remake. It's a good game, and worth playing. It's got some unusual mechanics from the OG with world/character tendency and equipment - but is a decent remake of where things began for this genre. 8.5/10

After almost 86 hours, I got the plat for Dark Souls 3. Great game! While I understand complaints about DS3's linearity, it's still a great refinement of the Souls game formula and a fitting sendoff for the series. The DLC isn't perfect but is decent as a complete package. 9.5/10

Got a good chuckle out of seeing this written about Iudex Gundyr in Dark Souls 3. I got him first try, but about 14% of ppl who played DS3 on Playstation haven't beaten him.

Finally done with Dark Souls 2 SOTFS including DLCs after about 100 hours of play. This game has some questionable design choices, and some of them make the game more frustrating than fairly challenging, but I'd still give it an 8/10. The souls game formula is just that good.

Many believe that gaining lots of attention is a big positive. "The only thing worse than being than being talked about is not being talked about" kind of thing. I disagree. Living under constant scrutiny from ppl you mostly don't know isnt great. Peace and quiet has a value too.

I'm the most satisfied I've been in a while after finishing the Elden Ring DLC. The final boss sure doesn't mess around! I see now why this fight got so many comparisons to Malenia's. Shadow of the Erdtree is tough at times for sure, but it's worth every penny. :)

In light of this weekend's tournament, I compiled a list of players that have won melee majors/big invitationals without using a top tier (top 7) character: ChuDat (ICs - Pound 2) Axe (Pikachu - Summit 8) aMSa (Yoshi - TBH10, Apex '22, Scuffed WT) That's it. 3 players over 24+ years.

Having completed 4 playthroughs of Resident Evil 9 Requiem, I'd say this game is among the best titles that RE has to offer. While it's fine to play as your first RE game, IMO RE9 is best appreciated if you've played some of the previous RE games, especially RE2 Remake. 9.5/10.

So, I checked the melee singles reg numbers for Genesis in recent years. 2026: 973 (As of now, reg is closed) 2025: 1,074 2024: 1,544 (GX) 2023: 1,253 2022: 1,552* (This was G8, which moved to April from January due to COVID. This one had a lot of DQs due to the change of dates.)
