No longer part of the triad, but a supersonic moderately stealthy bomber with a payload of 70k+.

Russia has the same problem with Ukraine taking out a bunch of Tu-22s with drones. They stopped making them in 1997 and can’t make more.

The cost is not the issue. It is that the bomber is irreplaceable. Production of the B-1 ceased in 1988. You couldn’t make more if you wanted to. The B-2 is crucial to the nuclear triad, and the B-21 isn’t delivered except test aircraft.

Bubble, but bubble financed to this point with equity. Once the banks get involved with debt financing the system risks increase.

I didn't think the GenAI bubble would result in a financial crisis, just a run-of-the-mill tech bubble. I may be wrong about that.

One thing that University of Leicester in the UK did really well was level-setting student skills with short seminars. US universities could learn from this and offer 0.1, 0.25, and 0.5 unit short courses on active reading, note taking, literature reviews, etc.

We are saddened to say goodbye to our dear friend, Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint. One of the last surviving stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age, we’ll forever be grateful for unforgettable contributions to cinema, her generosity and her humor. Our thoughts are with her loved ones.

I should warn you that the text is opaque in the extreme. If you remember how Friedman gave Congressional testimony, you will understand.

A complicating factor is that if you decide to keep Smith, Harris, Rodriguez, and Doval, you will need to add at least 2 lefty relievers on the free agent market, unless you make Wilkinson a reliever, then you only need one. But then you need a lefty starter in free agency.

I disagree. That is what has broken the US military. While they are subordinate to civilian authority, there needs to be a stronger element of consultation. An NSC full of lawyers and donors is no source of strategy.

When your definition of strategy is project management—the Lykke model—then you are doing operations, not strategy, and certainly not grand strategy, this brings to focus onto killing people and breaking things rather than considering non-kinetic elements to achieve national aims.

Your trips sound worse. The long haul flights are a killer. I did a sales call on the phone company and police department in Malaysia one year and it was 24 hours going (SFO->ICN->SIN->KUL) and 26 hours coming back (KUL->SIN->HKG->SFO) for 2 days on the ground for meetings.

Suicide terrorism is almost always an individual phenomenon. Religion and "brain washing" have little to do with it. They may not be prone to suicidal ideation until there is a cause that justifies the deed is an act of extreme altruism. See Merari's chapter in this edited volume. a.co/d/0d9FBfpS
