And the footnote there seems to suggest that it's impossible to trespass on property that's open to the public. That is simply not true. So long as you're not illegally discriminating against someone, you can kick whomever you want off your property. If that person comes back, they are trespassing.

And the reasoning in this case is crazy. Hawaii pointed to laws in PA and NJ from both before and after the founding that prohibited carrying guns on someone else's land without permission. The Court waves them off as primarily prohibiting hunting on someone else's land, and therefor not relevant.

The next time anyone tells you that someone subject to law enforcement action "must have been doing something wrong," remember this moment.
NY Times headline: "Border Officials Are Said to Have Caused El Paso Closure by Firing Anti-Drone Laser
People familiar with the episode said the use of the technology was not coordinated with the Federal Aviation Administration. Officials targeted what they thought was a drug cartel drone, but turned out to be a party balloon, they said."

OP has underlined "turned out to be a party balloon."

The @democrats.org know they just won an election, right? A win that sent a clear signal which side Americans are on in this? Did they forget that after only five days?! www.nytimes.com/live/2025/11...
"Mr. King said that the length of the shutdown and the pain it was inflicting on Americans had changed the calculus for some of his Democratic colleagues, pushing them to support a deal with Republicans that would reopen the government without the extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies they had originally sought."

Schumer is "In danger of" looking out of touch? That ship has long since sailed, @nytimes.com.

Subhead: "The rise of Zohran Mamdani comes at a complicated moment for Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, who is in danger of looking out of touch back home."

Good to know he acknowledges that the shutdown is hurting his party. Maybe they can address the AHA concerns and get this resolved? Probably not.

#NotTheOnion A guy is suing his former employer for not accommodating his religious belief that he should never be alone in a room with a woman to avoid "the appearance of evil." So the argument is it's religious discrimination to *not* engage in gender discrimination. Wild.

News outlets need to stop reporting on the "Department of Government Efficiency" as if it's a thing that actually exists. It doesn't. It won't. That would take an act of Congress and good luck getting even the incoming Congress to spend the money it would take to set up a whole new department.
Business Today refers to the "newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)" in a news story.

One wall of the #JeffersonMemorial bears an inscription that I like a lot, for a couple reasons: First, it amounts to Thomas Jefferson telling #originalists to grow up and put their big-boy pants on. Second, it's a great object lesson in *why* originalism is both futile and self-defeating. (1/10)
Jefferson's statute inside the Jefferson Memorial, in front of a quote engraved on the wall."I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions, but laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths discovered and manners and opinions change, with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also to keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors."

Kennedy’s views regarding science, medicine, and public health are not just incorrect; they’re insidious. His stance on vaccinations goes far beyond healthy skepticism; it’s a dangerous cynicism that threatens to harm not only those who buy into it, but each of us and entire communities – including our atheist community, which reports one of the highest rates of vaccination among the entire population.
