Did you get many “well, you went to great clips”? Because we’ve been cutting our daughter very thick mane at home and now as a teen I took her to the first time to the salon. But didn’t want to spend $$$ on a simple trim and took her to Supercuts. They botched a 1 inch ends trim 🫠

Good end-of-FY coverage by the Times. The amount of unspent funds has wiggled but it was pretty clear for some time now that NSF was simply not going to spend a substantial portion of its congressional appropriation this year.

National Science Foundation Diverted $1.4 Billion in Science Funds Mandated by Congress
The move, affecting about one-fifth of the National Science Foundation’s primary research budget, is the latest sign of how the White House is asserting more control over grants.

GOOD NEWS! A new cancer treatment has demonstrated unprecedented results in a large trial for cancer patients whose disease has become resistant to chemotherapy AND immunotherapy. Tumors shrank in OVER a third of participants, with 15 patients experiencing COMPLETE eradication of their tumors.

I read somewhere that keeping the battery between 25-80% was the best practice. My 2025 leaf takes about 26 hours for a full charge with regular 120v outlet. So I plug it overnight whenever I hit ~30%. In the a.m. is at ~75-80%. We are also considering a 220v but also want solar carport so 🤷‍♀️

The disparity between breast cancer survival in high and low income countries is HUGE 💔. The @who.int Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI) could avert 2.5 million deaths by 2040. Raise awareness! Talk to colleagues! Write to leaders! Post and repost! Let's do it. 🤗🙏 #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth
Summary findings
Global median five-year breast cancer survival: 77.8%
between 2017-2021

Low-income countries:
41.9% five-year survival
(fewer than 1 in 2 women)

High-income countries:
87.3% five-year survival
(nearly 9 in 10 women)Closing the gaps in breast cancer care
The WHO Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI brings countries and partners together to reduce inequalities in breast cancer outcomes and save lives.
The initiative aims to achieve
three targets:
• 60% of invasive breast cancers are diagnosed at stage I or II
• 60 days from the first detection or presentation of symptoms at health facility to getting a diagnosis
• 80% of people diagnosed with breast cancer receive the recommended complete treatment

One thing about used EV is that they are not super expensive and what you save in gas goes to car payment. But I totally understand that not everyone can afford one or has a good living arrangement to charge one at home.

Grumpy Scientist @grumpy-scientist.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I only use it in the city and we are estimating a change from about $200/month with gas to about $20-25/EV if we only trickle charge at home (not including free charges at the park). Mine is about 1%/mile or so, in city with regenerative (I don’t use the eco thing). So far, I love it.

Sounds like in your case, home charging and use it as a city commuter is your best option. In my city there are free public chargers ( but you have to unplug right after done or they charge you a lot for taking the space). I charge it overnight every few nights at home, so I keep it between 25-80%

Not sure about the ioniq, but I plug my Nissan leaf to a regular 110v outlet for slow charge. It takes all night to charge, but is a much smaller battery than the ioniq. With 220 you charge faster.

This striking pre-Columbian greenstone masterwork depicts an Olmec shaman in mid-transformation, adopting the powerful facial features of a sacred were-jaguar. Originating from archaeological sites in the Gulf Coast region of Veracruz state, it was crafted between 900 BCE and 600 BCE.

For what I see, you get whatever EV you can afford and rave about it, regardless of brand or model. I just got mine and love it, and everyone I know love theirs, being Ioniq, Bolt, Kona, literally everyone love the one they got.

We were wondering the same thing. Just got a 2025 Leaf and is such a pleasure to drive. We consider ourselves pretty tech savvy and omg the amount of things we didn’t know about EVs! Spent so much on our old ICE car maintenance (and gas) that could have saved with the EV. Not going back.

Can you find charging stations nearby? I know perhaps it will be annoying to have to go often if you drive a lot. Ultimately, it will depend how much you drive and how often you need to charge. Not for everyone . In my city, a couple parks have free stations. I can charge while jogging.
