At least he seems consistent and obvious. I'd never want him leading anything that affected me, but I certainly can respect him slightly more than those who actively work against women while saying they're supportive. Also, I'd like to see more women in the trades, too. Those are good paying jobs.

He is probably thinking of putting various demographics into ghettos and concentration camps and worse while also ignoring citizenship status. Just my guess.

I’m on a flight next to a guy who is listening to Seinfeld with no headphones and all I hear is the laughtrack and the worst bass noises of all time every 15 seconds and all I can think about is this.
Pftompkins.bsky.social: The music of Seinfeld, divorced from the show itself, is nothing short of disgusting. Imagine if the show didn’t exist but the music somehow did. Hearing it, your face would twist in angry revulsion

If care about free markets, you not only get more from center-left Dems than the party of Trump, you get more *from professed democratic socialists* like Mamdani than you do from the party of Trump. Those who deny this only think of it as an anti-left cultural totem and not a real policy agenda.

Something unprecedented happened during my visit to the Gulf. For the first time in 20 years in Congress, I was denied entry to U.S. military facilities and even meetings with military leaders. An order from Hegseth - that applies to both parties - to hide the cost of the war.

Also, I'm not addressing Mr. Bouie (obviously), but I'm addressing those who think that getting canceled by "woke" is undeserved and that after a brief period of time, they are free to reenter public spaces without their past behavior being brought up again. Make them do PSAs against their actions.

When I hear people saying that forgiveness is needed, I always think of a few questions. 1) Who are you talking about? 2) Have they taken actions to repair any harm they have done? 3) Are you arguing for forgiveness for those who haven't changed, but you feel that they have been punished enough?

Yeah, I think people don't understand that there are consequences that don't require violence. Obviously, prison time is one form of violence that some could arguably face. Other consequences are to not give them any access to public funds as they can't be trusted with them. That could hurt a lot.

Someone sent me a letter saying that "being empathetic" is "how Jews lost the plot" and ended up in gas chambers. That was not, in fact, the lesson of the Shoah. And frankly I'd rather die with empathy than live without it. Hell, I'd rather die with empathy even for my enemy than live without it.

Maybe if they could get him to stay on stage and listen to all voters, democrats, independents, republicans, and all others decry every thing that he's done to destroy the fabric of our nation, but I don't think that's what he means. I am pretty sure he'd just want to spread the Testament of Trump.

It seems like actual malice could be in play if there's a defamation lawsuit. Schmitt has been informed that he is wrong, and he is still repeating the falsehood. Or can we not hold representatives accountable when they knowingly, factually, obviously lie on camera?

I thought the tariff money was already promised to us when the tariffs started. Now he's withholding it from us? Is that his message? It's like a boss telling their employees that they all get a bonus for the work they're doing, then deciding that the bonus needs to be tied to some new metric later.

Welfare needs to exist for all people full stop. People will seek out jobs, but there are too many employers who take advantage of people who depend on their low paying job to receive benefits by giving poor wages, little to no training, and many other issues. Be sure that good jobs exist instead.

l've been a SA advocate for decades:
NEVER go to campus resources for a SA. Call a rape care hotline/program (off campus), get a SA advocate (they're free), go to a SART hospital for care (and evidence collection if you choose).
They activate the police. Schools have NO business in this process and will minimize and bury it. It's a criminal matter, not an administrative matter.
Period. No exceptions.

The GOP cut funding to the IRS because *audits work* and they fundamentally don't believe rich people should have to play by the rules.
Line chart titled "Revenue per audit," subtitled "In-person audits, 2010-2014." It plots average revenue and average cost per audit by taxpayer income percentile, poorer to richer, from the 0–5th percentile to the top 0.1%. Source: Boning et al. 2023, "A Welfare Analysis of Tax Audits Across the Income Distribution."

Across the bottom half of the income distribution, revenue and cost track closely, both around $3,000–$6,000 per audit. Above the median, revenue pulls ahead of cost: about $10,000 vs. $5,000 near the 90th percentile, and about $17,000 vs. $8,000 at the 95th–99th. At the top, revenue jumps to about $31,000 for the 99–99.9th percentile and about $90,000 for the top 0.1%.
