📣 New tracker on workers' mobilization around AI in arts, culture and media. Arte es Ética is there with the CAA, EGAIR and a lot of groups and unions ✨ We really appreciate for highlighting our work fighting around the world to defend our rights against the illegality of current genAI ✊ 🔥
Global Database · Creative Labour & Critical Futures
Worker Mobilizations around AI in Arts, Culture, and Media
Around the world, cultural workers are striking, protesting, running campaigns and mobilizing in relation to the use of AI in the workplace, such as Hollywood writers, game performers in the US and voice actors in Brazil. This tracker aims to document strikes, protests, campaigns and mobilizations by cultural workers — broadly understood as the arts, culture and media sectors — in relation to AI around the world.

Arte es Ética
AÉ · Spain / Latin America

Non-profit collective of creative professionals and independent visual artists (illustrators, graphic and audiovisual designers, photographers, animators, painters, 3D artists) from Latin America and Spain, formed in late 2022 in response to generative AI. Works to inform creators about how AI affects all creative sectors and to bring this information to political representatives across Spanish-speaking countries to establish regulations protecting people from abusive practices by technology corporations. Usually collaborates with groups and unions fighting for creators' rights, including the Glaze team, the Data Workers Inquiry project, and others.
Main Arguments on AI
Current commercial models of generative AI were developed illicitly and are unethical. No one gave their consent to have their work, image, voice, or identity used in the training of current commercial generative AI services. These technologies have been created behind the backs and against the will of millions of people.
