Seriously… how can a party that insists on scrapping all progress with the EU, binning NetZero and leaving the ECHR, so that it can abuse its power without accountability… how can that party claim “the soul of the nation”. The ruin - maybe. The soul - definitely not.

I'm not alone no, I have a husband and a home, but my 95yr old mother does. The reassurance that if she needed it, care would be provided without her having to use her pension to pay for it is huge. No system is perfect, but his proposal does give something back.

The triple lock was only a temporary uplift to pensions, but it's ratchet effect on the economy is ultimately unsustainable. If it wasn't Andy reviewing this, subsequent governments would have to do so. Getting a smaller increase of my annual pension is far outweighed by a universal care system.

Thank you Alex for explaining the triple lock so clearly, now I get it. As for myself, I'm more than happy for it to be adjusted in order to help fund the social care programme. I hope never to need it, but knowing it's there is worth far more than a few extra pounds on my pension each year.

'It takes a lot of money to look this cheap', sums up her self deprecation and humour. The world has lost a true individual, and will never be same. RIP Dolly.

Dolly's gone. What kind of world are we left with? Kindness, respect and empathy have taken parts of themselves with her. A wonderful woman; talent, generosity and humour in a beautiful rhinestone package. The world's a worse place without her, we'll all miss you forever. RIP.

'Posh neighbour woken at night' is not a character, it's a stage direction, the voice and intonation is her's.

170

Griff @griffos.bsky.social · 29/06/2026

@sturdyalex.bsky.social Margot was intended to be an offstage voice initally, it was only with Penelope's input did they write more and more for her, so yes she did 'Create' and 'originate' the character.

"If he'd say 'Up the Ra' for £86, what do you reckon he'll do for £5m?" The Cameo neo-Nazi endorsement for £141. The convicted rioter sympathy for £155. The £5m from a crypto billionaire. Marina Purkiss connects the dots.

If chronicle means amplifying every division, belittling Starmer at every opportunity, downplaying every achievement and delighting in parroting the Tory line in dreadful prose, then Mason has chronicled the last two years. Sadly it doesn't, and Mason has been a participant not a neutral observer.

@pollybillington.bsky.social Banning SM for under 16's, may or may not work (I'm sure they'll find ways around it), but the government announcing this on X (one of the major perpetrators of this content) is so bad. It's time to stop using that platform, Musk won't change.

I think that any new PM chosen ONLY by their party should go to the country within 6 months with their new mandate. I know that after 4 PMs in 8 yrs with the Torys it would have been exhausting, but that wasn't normal - except it seems to have become so. Who else would have chosen Liz Truss?
