we aren't going to defeat AIs by trying to stop them from scraping, this is a battle against unregulated, unfettered capitalism and I don't think anything but legal mandates to delete the datasets/trained data they illegally stole will stop this

Your relationship with practicing art will change once you begin to look at your projects as mini creative challenges versus a grind to reach some illusory finish line.

what i gotta say abt arcane, specifically the breakup scene is that it mirrors how vi "left" jinx all those years ago imo. obviously not exactly but it's terribly similar

okay, so. i have bipolar disorder. we have a suicide rate of about 1/5. i've basically spent my entire teenage and adult life trying not to kill myself. so with that in mind, here are my tips on how to hang in there: 1) don't isolate. i know all the excuses. but don't do it

Do not obey in advance.
Resist. Do not offer an oppressive government what it wants. Do not anticipate its needs and offer up what you think it wants. To do so teaches power what it can do.

In a digital world where major languages dominate, smaller languages risk fading. For Aruba, preserving Papiamento means more than maintaining words—it’s about protecting a cultural legacy that reflects the island's rich history. #VanishingCulture 🔗 blog.archive.org/2024/10/31/v...

Why is it important to preserve native languages like Papiamento?

“Papiamento is not just a means of communication, but a symbol of resilience and cultural pride for its speakers.”

Biblioteca Nacional Aruba

I don't care if artists worry about their reach or their numbers—I get why it matters, you're not wrong for worrying about it! However, I also dearly wish that artists can decouple the numbers from their tastes and personal goals.

I came across an outdated guide on image grid sizing crop/proportions for bsky earlier, and I felt it was important to create an updated version! Please use this new guide instead!

Up-to-date BlueSky Crop Aspect Ratio
Crop Sizes for Bluesky as of 18 Oct 2024

By default, single images are uncropped. If image is too tall (Exceeds the 1:2 aspect ratio) then it will be cropped. Single images that are too tall may be scaled down but aspect ratio is preserved

With two images, both of them share a square aspect ratio of 1:1

For three images, the first image is square (1:1) while the other two are half-squares (2:1)

And for 4 images, all of them are 3:2
