Our recent paper is out where we propose kmer-based phylogenetics for fungal Starship TEs (which are unalignable as highly variable). Gaeumannomyces tritici, the culprit behind the wheat disease take-all, has had its genome mapped! Dr. Hill and team have sequenced 9 near-chromosome level genomes of this species, along with potential antagonist species G. hyphopodioides and G. avenae (oat take-all). #starships #transposableelements
