Just yesterday, 15 year old Muhammad al Zinati was killed in an Israeli strike while rushing to help aid worker Sherif Lubbad, who had already been injured. He was a child. Both were murdered. Both should be alive. And the ones still under the rubble, whose names exist only in the memories of people who may not have survived to speak them. Writing a check is one of the least costly forms of solidarity available to me. I am doing it because I can, and because these organizations are doing the work while much of the world debates it.
But aid alone cannot address the conditions that make it necessary. This is a manmade injustice, and I believe it requires immediate political change. Palestinians have lived for decades without basic rights and should not have to wait another day to be free. That is where my focus will remain. I will …

rather, he asserted that certain redacted text
contains the identities of victims or potential
victims whose counsel have contacted the government
and requested that the persons be treated as victims.

Isn't their ability to pay people to settle cases (including merely potential cases) pretty much unaffected by having or not having the bullshit fund? There's no need for a fund--the law already authorizes unlimited funds for payments if they meet the requirements of the law. Am I wrong?

The facts presented in this case, taken in a light most favorable to Appellee, provide ample evidence to support a conclusion that Appellants violated Appellee’s clearly established constitutional rights. Appellee had an obvious “grapefruit sized” lump on the side of her head. And on May 24, 2019, Appellee refused to return to her cell because she wanted medical care. But instead of consulting with medical personnel or questioning why Appellee was protesting her medical care, Appellants placed Appellee in solitary confinement, where she lost her ability to submit additional medical grievances. At that point, Appellee had made multiple complaints. Moreover, other correctional officers raised the alarm regarding Appellee’s care, including Deputy Kelley, who repeatedly raised with Appellants her concerns regarding Appellee’s care. Deputy Hill did the same. Approximately five days before Appellee was taken to the hospital, Deputy Hill reported to Whitaker her concerns about the severe swelling on Appellee’s head and her belief that the injury was not self-inflicted. And significantly, there is no indication in the record that Appellee was seen by any medical personnel after she was placed in solitary confinement until she fainted on May 28. By ignoring these indications that Appellee’s medical treatment was inadequate and by simultaneously removing Appellee’s ability to report her medical issues, any reasonable official should have known that this conduct could subject them to a deliberate indifference claim.

I agree it starts way before that, even, but I don't think Dems have as honorable a motivation as what you say. They are making out like bandits, most of them. And some of them are likely being blackmailed or otherwise coerced through threats (AOC perhaps?). That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

This whole mess started way before that. One small piece of it was electing a smart guy (Obama) who made great promises but didn't (even try to) deliver on most of them. I spent hundreds of hours volunteering for Obama in '08 and was horribly disillusioned by his performance after he was elected.
