The green light up center console area of the a 1985 Toyota Pickup XtraCab Deluxe 4×4 5-Speed, found here on Bring A Trailer https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-toyota-pickup-102/

The interior panels are '80s brown, the top section is a three panel display for altimeter and vehicle angles for offroading.
Next down is two air vents.
Then the HVAC controls. This era of Toyota HVAC controls is the best, most sensible design ever put in a vehicle.
Then a (closed) ashtray and cigarette lighter, then an aftermarket Kenwood single DIN in-dish CD player/radio.

Read theory (Seriously, there's so much in here, it's almost 500 pages - not just about how to play the game, but economics, urban planning, architecture, game development, binary versus hexadecimal, Will Wright being deranged in an interview. An insane book for a 10 year old to buy and soak up.)

It's hard to say what "games that shaped who I am" even means as I don't know how much I've been influenced by games (except Sim City) so much as learned from them. But these were all really important to me in their times, in what I think is a chronological order.

The results compare well to the New York Times dialect map I got from 8 or 9 years ago. If we ever get around to moving to the Twin Cities I'm gonna stick out like a sore thumb, though the Chicago "a" in "bag" has been slowly creeping in to my pronunciation. Word choice ain't changed much, though.
A dialect map of the United States ranging from least (blue) to most (red) strongly centered on Missouri and Arkansas with Little Rock AR, Springfield MO, and Lexington KY highlighted. New England and Minnesota are very blue.

Yup, Southeast Missouri my first 32 years, with marginally closer family/cultural/religious ties to St. Louis than further into the Bootheel. My only objection to the questions is that I tend to say crawdad when fishing/doing outdoor stuff, but say crawfish for the food, as in a crawfish boil.
A dialect map of the United States from blue (least) to red (most) with a strong red area centered around Missouri, Kansas, and large parts of Northwest Arkansas, Oklahoma, eastern Colorado, northeast New Mexico, and the Texas Panhandle, with St Louis, Kansas City, and Oklahoma City selected out. Everything northeast of a line from Niagara Falls to Philadelphia is blue.

Costly Discipleship, Resistance Theology
In June 1939 Bonhoeffer sailed to New York at Reinhold Niebuhr's invitation, with an open door to stay and ride out the coming war from Union Theological Seminary. He lasted twenty-six days. By July 27 he had booked passage home, writing to Niebuhr that he had to “live through this difficult period of our national history with the Christian people of Germany” or forfeit the right to participate in the rebuilding afterward. From a Berlin academic family of cultivated Protestantism—his father Karl was a noted neurologist and professor of psychiatry at the Friedrich Wilhelm University—he had already directed the illegal Confessing Church seminary at Finkenwalde, where Life Together and Discipleship were written, and would join the Abwehr conspiracy against Hitler, get arrested in April 1943, and hang at Flossenbürg on April 9, 1945. The prison letters opened the strange line of thought about “religionless Christianity”—a Christ for the world come of age, suffering as the only God who can help. You think following Jesus actually costs you something, and the bill might come due

Over Holy Week I listened to Strange Glory: A Life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer by Charles Marsh. A lot to be said as it relates to our present moment, but I was most struck by a brief passage from Leaflet No. 4 by Sophie Scholl et al. of The White Rose resistance movement. Can't get it out of my head.
A screenshot of White Rose Leaflet No. 4, from https://www.weisse-rose-stiftung.de/

Every word that comes from Hitler’s mouth is a lie. When he says peace, he means war, and when he blasphemously uses the name of the Almighty, he means the power of evil, the fallen angel, Satan. His mouth is the foul-smelling maw of Hell, and his might is accursed at bottom. True, we must conduct a struggle against the National Socialist terrorist state with rational means; but those who still doubt the existence of demonic powers have failed by far to understand the metaphysical background of this war. Behind the concrete, the perceptible events, behind all objective, logical considerations, we find the irrational element, i.e. the struggle against the demon, against the messenger of the Antichrist. Everywhere and at all times demons have been lurking in the dark, waiting for the moment when man is weak; when unauthorized he leaves his place in the order of creation, founded for him on freedom by God; when he yields to the force of evil, separates himself from the powers of a higher order; and after voluntarily taking the first step, he is driven on to the second and third at a furiously accelerating rate. Everywhere and at all times of greatest need, men have stood up, prophets and saints who cherished their freedom, who pointed to the One God and urged the people to a reversal of its downward course. Man is surely free, but without the true God he is defenceless against evil. He is a like rudderless ship, at the mercy of the storm, an infant without its mother, a cloud dissolving into thin air.

I ask you, you as a Christian struggling with the preservation of your greatest treasures, whether you hesitate, whether you incline toward intrigue or procrastination in the hope that someone else will take up arms in your defence? Has God not given you the strength, the courage to fight? We must attack evil where it is strongest, and it is strongest in the power of Hitler.

I grew up in a dialect borderland hearing at least three distinct forms of American English. My normal speech mostly resides in a Central Midland register close to but distinct from "General American." I don't always have control over it, but I quite easily code switch into Inland South.
A screenshot of the best North American English dialect maps in existence, found at
https://aschmann.net/AmEng/#LargeMap

Centered roughly on the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri, extending into Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana, with lines, colors, and shading distinguishing dialects and where they are spoken.

It's a damn jumbled mess and there are no less than 5 different dialects of American English contained in this small portion of a relatively empty part of the country.

I think it might be this? I'm not 100% certain though.
The north-flowing Vermilion River and the south-flowing Middle Fork Vermilion River run on what is close to a straight line between Oglesby and Danville. In presettlement times, the two rivers drained an upland marsh near Roberts. It is possible that early settlers regarded these as a single river that flowed in two directions. It is also possible that, in early settlement times, these rivers formed a canoe route between the Illinois River and Wabash River, with a portage through the marshes near Roberts. This may explain why the two rivers have the same name.

Your Title Is:

A Crypto-Liberal Laudian
You might relate to...
Frederick Denison Maurice

Frederick Denison Maurice (1805–1872) is an excellent match due to his pioneering efforts in articulating a "Broad Church" Anglicanism that sought to reconcile diverse theological strands. His emphasis on the Incarnation, the universality of God's Kingdom, and the sacraments resonates with Catholic thought, while his critiques of rigid dogma and focus on a practical, ethical Christianity align with Protestant impulses. As a founder of Christian Socialism and an advocate for social justice and intellectual freedom, he significantly contributed to what would become known as Liberal Anglican theology, embodying a rich and complex balance of these traditions.
