You are absolutely right and it doesn't sound crazy to me... These are daily conversations I have with my circle of people. The empire is dying and we will build something new and better, I can feel it.

Agreed. In Canada, they recently introduced regs that make it harder for regular ppl to go off grid. The # of off gridders has dropped ~40% depending on the province because it is no longer accessible or legally possible. I wonder who lobbied for these bills... Congrats on going off grid!

Thank you!! You nailed it with dairy and eggs and their terrible origins. I was surprised at how easy it was to ditch those and I'm kicking myself a little for not going full vegan sooner. Thank you for welcoming me, I appreciate you! 💚🌱

Listened to a woman at the grocery store complain about the cattle in a nearby field that looked too cold and that they should be in a warm barn. Couldn't help but notice some meat products in her cart, and I marvelled at her cognitive dissonance.

Happy World Wildlife Day! We humans share the Earth with such wonderful critters, I love them all! Protecting their habitats = protecting their homes, and that's why I advocate for a greener future for all. #WorldWildlifeDay

Vegetarian for 5 yrs, and started 100% plant based this yr. When we know the effects of our diet, and we have the capacity to swap out meat and dairy products with more sustainable food like tofu and oatmilk, why wouldn't we? Our future depends on it!! #GoVegan

80% of agricultural land is used for livestock (and textiles), yet this huge land use provides only 17% of our calories and 38% of our protein. 16% of the land used for crops provides 83% of our calories and 62% of our protein. It's past time we rethink what we eat.
An infographic from Our World in Data titled "Global land use for food production" uses a series of stacked horizontal bar charts to visualize the distribution of Earth's surface and the disproportionate land requirements of livestock. The first bar shows Earth's surface is 71% ocean and 29% land (141 million km²); the land surface is then broken down into 76% habitable land, 10% glaciers, and 14% barren land. Of the habitable land, 45% (48 million km²) is used for agriculture, while 38% is forests and 13% is shrubland. The agricultural land bar reveals a major disparity: 80% (38 million km²) is dedicated to livestock (meat, dairy, and textiles) including grazing land and cropland for feed, while only 16% is used for crops for direct human consumption and 4% for non-food crops. Finally, two smaller bars at the bottom contrast this land use with nutritional output, showing that while livestock uses 80% of agricultural land, it only provides 17% of global calories and 38% of global protein, whereas plant-based foods provide 83% of calories and 62% of protein.

🇨🇦 Energy costs for wind and solar projects in Canada have fallen to half of what they were 10 years ago. It's time to take advantage of this! Source: www.theenergymix.com/solar-wind-e... #cdnpoli
Solar and Wind Energy Emerge as Canada’s Cheapest New Power Source

• According to a new report, energy costs for wind and solar projects in Canada have fallen to half of what they were 10 years ago making
them lowest-cost form of new electricity generation.
• The trend is expected to continue with projections that wind and solar costs will fall another 25–50% over the next decade.
• Ideally, we will leverage this low cost energy, as demand for new electricity rises with increasing adoption of electric vehicles, heat pumps, and other new technologies.

Maybe you've not yet visited cities anywhere else in the country? Comparatively, I felt 1000x safer cycling in Van than anywhere in ON. At least Van has a series of back alley networks. ON is made of endless highways that are impossible to cross and a downright death sentence for cyclists.

Microplastics are everywhere on Earth, from the Sahara Desert to Arctic sea ice. They are now in the air we breathe. This plastic is not coming from outer space. It comes from petrochemical corporations and big brands with names and addresses.

Scientists just calculated how many microplastics are in our atmosphere. The number is absolutely shocking
A new estimate suggests land sources eject 600 quadrillion pieces of microplastic into the atmosphere every year

Seven countries now generate 100% of their electricity from renewable energy.

Albania, Bhutan, Iceland, Nepal, Paraguay, D. R. Congo, Ethiopia

…all produced more than 99.7% of their electricity using geothermal, hydro, solar, or wind.

And a further 40 countries generated at least 50% of their electricity from renewables including Canada and 11 European countries.

🇨🇦 Natural gas projects are NOT in Canada's national interest. 🇨🇦 Read more here: www.sierraclub.ca/lng-national... #cdnpoli #greensky
Is Liquid Natural Gas in Canada's national interest?

• Global demand for oil and gas is set to peak this decade and then decline, and there are enough projects already underway to meet that demand.
• The International Energy Agency has confirmed that renewable energy will grow faster than any major energy source in this decade and will make the transition away from oil and gas inevitable.
• LNG is expensive to produce in Canada and becomes a risky investment as renewables are rapidly becoming the default for energy development across the Global South.

It's time to face the facts, renewables are best for the economy. Is Liquid Natural Gas in Canada's national interest?

• Low-cost renewable energy is soaring in China and Vietnam and demand for LNG has already peaked in Europe and South Korea.
• The International Energy Agency estimates that the sponsors of around 70% of LNG export projects currently under construction will struggle to recover their invested capital.
• Exporting LNG will also raise the cost of gas in Canada while wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on projects with no real future. This will only raise the already high cost of living.

It's time to face the facts, renewables are best for the economy.

The alternative is that very same military turning on the rest of the world. If USians don't face it, we in other countries will! Folks in other countries have already died by that military. Folks in concentration camps within your boarders also didn't have the luxury of choosing to stay home.
