I think you're right that there needs to be a minimum amount of established respect to even be receptive to critique, and that people aren't open to hearing it from the type of people they dehumanize. Boys primarily seek approval from other boys.

2. People who cause harm are not entitled to the emotional labor and continued trauma of those people or groups of people they have hurt to participate in any way in a rehabilitation process. I help other formers because white people should have to deal with that, not others.

1. People have to want to change. You can't make someone want to do the work of changing their entire worldview/behavior. No amount of consequences or positive reinforcement will make up someone's mind for them. Stop trying to control another person and focus on healing those impacted from it.

It's also strategic. These leaders also will use "Women's rights" when convenient(especially with Islamiphobia) or talk about immigrants taking jobs/immigrants being paid less as justification to forcing them out of the country but they will never talk about holding companies to account to PAY UP!

As much as I have my pragmatic cynic tendencies, I think there are bits of hope. I mean, many people are feeling the hurt. However, I find that the problem. Most people only give a damn when it affects them. Most have a short range perspective. I wonder if this will change.

Everyone believes I can do good. I have spent 4 years in total just beginning to undo the damages I have caused. I went out of my way to confirm with my probation officer if it would be okay to interact with others “off the record” and he let me. He knew I wanted to do the right thing.
